Some advice re upgrade please

I am in the near future going to upgrade from a P3 933mhz with V5 and SBlive (Win 98) to a P4 2.4 GHz (Win XP) and would very much appreciate (with CMBB and other military sims in mind) some advice re best and most reliable and problem free N'vidia card (or similar) and Soundblaster card to team with the new processor.

Many thanks for thoughts and advice based on experience with these choices.
