Panther G
I am currently reading the book "The Para's" by John Parker about the British Airborne in WWII and beyond. At the beginning it talks about the Bruneval raid and I found some differences between the scenario and book. I did a search and came up with the following: http://standto.com/qorbruneval.html http://www.parachute-regiment.com/history/early_operations.htm#Op eration%20Biting%20-%20The%20Bruneval%20Raid http://www.blackgoat.freeserve.co.uk/BrunevalRaid.html The book also says that the radar station was on a cliff top. The stations were guarded by 30 full time guards, with a garrison of around 40 men based in the village of Bruneval itself, half a mile away. Another 100 men - operators, signallers, and coastal defence troops - were housed in farm buildings around the station, and at a villa called "La Presbytere." The shore was under constant observation from the pillbox's. Maybe there should be a remake of "A quick visit - Bruneval" that has assault boats appear as reinforcements at the end, and have the radar station be on top of some cliffs. Wild Bill Wilder
I'm definitely a candidate for more info that will make the scenario more realistic. My sources were quite limited so I had to fill in the gaps. I'm trying to remember the books I used. One was by Quarrie, Airborne Assault and there was one other. Quarrie is usually right on the money. But I thank you Ryan for this information. I'll look it over and see what we can do to make it better. Feel free, any of you, if you find something that disputes some of my work, to share it with me. In fact, write me directly. I might miss it here. Wild Bill Wilder
Wow! This is great stuff, buddy. Thanks so much for passing these along. I could use you for a researcher, for sure! WB
Panther G
Here's another one: http://srd.yahoo.com/goo/Bruneval/12/*http://www.britishairborne.org/history2.html The book has more info about the bruneval raid if you have any more specific questions. I would be looking forward to your revision (if you decide to do one of course) and could playtest it possibly. Regards, Ryan
Wild Bill Wilder
Its on my "to do" list. Now if I don't lose my "to do" list... Absolutely, Ryan. Drop me a note via e-mail. It will be a couple of weeks. I'm working on another project, plus CMBB, and trying to keep my household intact. But I will get it done. Some reading first, of course, based on these excellent sites you've provided. WB
