Bastables Posted December 9, 2003 Share Posted December 9, 2003 Why is it that even though the ausf G and H share an identical turret that the G has 37mm of armour and the ausf H has only 30mm. According to Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two, front turret in the H and G was 30 @ 13, and 30@15, and the gun manlet itself was 37@0-45. Will double check when I get home, but seems close to yours except for the rounded parts, which is the manlet. However, what is 2 mm among Grogs? However, you sure about the same turret....according to that source the front plate has a 2 degree difference in slope in it, I would assume it means it was modified a little? What does Jentz say? Bastables Posted December 9, 2003 Author Share Posted December 9, 2003 That the changes from G to H were all to do with the hull; bolted armour, new stronger torsion bars, new transmission, new drive and idlier wheels etc. The turret for the 5cm KwK L/42 was actually the one designed for the H, therefore the F and G turret mounting the short 5cm gun should be identical.
