Penalty for exiting troops?

Recommended Posts

Is there a point penalty for units that move off the board? I'm not talking about an "exit" objective game. For example, if I direct tank crews to exit the map just to get them out of the way... do you lose points for that?

What if men run from the field on their own... like a routed unit fleeing for cover?

Are these exited troops counted as casualties or "OK" at the end of the game?

No, exited troops do not count as casualties -- they are considered "OK" at the end of the game. It doesn't matter whether you order them off the map, or they flee the map of their own volition. Captured prisoners also still count as long as you exit them off the friendly map edge. This is why it's sometimes a good idea to exit high point-value, but low combat value units like vehicle crews to get them out of harm's way.

There is, however, one subtle penalty to exiting units; for the purposes of Global Morale, exited units have the same effect as casualties. So for every unit you exit, the morale of the remaining units on the board gets just a little bit worse. No big deal when you're just exiting a few units, but if you're exiting lots of units this can have a serious effect on your ability to continue fighting.

Cheers,

YD
