Panzertruppe
In the book "Panzer Aces" it seems when the first T-34's appeared that the command of the tank was left up to the gunners? Can anyone explain this better.....seems odd that with a restricted view that the gunner had.. how was this of any use? Thermopylae
Rather the commander was left to do the gunnery. He'd ride about doing the commander thing until the shooting time came, at which point he'd drop down and be a gunner. This naturally made command and control rather impossibly hard when fighting was under way.

Especially for Platoon and Company commanders when no one had radios and all command and control was done with flags and hand signals...
