Hans
Question for our German language/German army grogs What would be the German term for an officer brought out of medical retirement back to active service? To explain, if a German officer was in WWI, gravely wounded in 1916 and medically retired in 1919 was then brought back into service in 1944 what would his status be? In America he would be called a reactivated medical retiree, what is the German term for the same thing? Thanks
mike8g
Somebody wounded in combat would be a "Kriegsversehrter" or a "Kriegsverwundeter" ( or as an adjective, he would be "kriegsversehrt" / "kriegsverwundet" ). Don't know if there was a special designation if someone retired back into service. Marcus
Tankist
The term was "reaktiviert" (reactivated) too. This officer would then be a "reaktivierter Kriegsversehrter" (reactivated disabled soldier). Tankist
