Dandelion
I use these berets for Commando scenarios. Actually a remnant from a Free French mod I did a few years ago, using a much modded British helmet as beret (10 Inter-Allied was the topic, thus used Brit uniforms, although not these Denisons shown here of course). Result isn't perfect, but looks nice from a distance, and the marines won't have to wear maroon. What you see here is British infantry, and some paras in the background for comparison. I guess one'd need a brighter green for Lovat green, but that's pretty easy to fix. Ineterested? Know of any good pic on the net displaying colours and shades of Lovat Green? JonS
LOL - very clever, using the helmets I just did a google with "lovat" "commando" and "1944", and came up with quite a few hits. Probably the best is this French site which has a link to the SS Bde. One of the sub-pages - this one - has a couple of colour photos of some old Commandos at a reunion, and they're wearing their berets! So, you should be able to get a shade off that I wish I spoke French This is a re-enactors site, which seems to have quite a few colour photos of the guys, including at least a couple in berets. BTW - Mike Dorosh, one of the links off the first page above goes to the Canadian units at Juno, and has some nice photos of their shoulder patches. Oh, BTW, no need to be formal Just call me Jon. Be cool JonS
