BlackVoid
I am a game designer and just started working on the design of Vietnam War small-scale tactical wargame. In the game the player controls a platoon and attachments. I need ONLINE resources that deal with tactics and equipment on this scale. Real AARs would be best. If all goes well you may see the game in about 2 years. Book suggestions are not that useful but are also welcome. Info I need: typical composition of a US/VC/NVA platoon platoon equipment with ammo loadout tactics support arms typical engagement ranges casualty rates I apologize for posting off-topic but this forum seems to be full of military experts and I had trouble finding any site that deals with anything else than the global history of the war. gaffertape
Keep us posted, BLACKVOID. I very much enjoyed the old Seal Team game (which tried to simulate what you describe), despite its awkward interface and many bugs. I'd be very interested in your end product. jasoncawley@ameritech.net
One book recommendation, even though that isn't what you say you want. "We were soldiers once and young" by General Moore. He was a battalion commander in early Nam. A wealth of information and insight. It covers 2 different, intense, battalion-level actions; you will get an excellent sense of weapon mixes and what they actual did.
Forever Babra
Check out "Inside the VC and NVA" by Lanning & Cragg. Pretty good read with some good info. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...
