I like the new one, but you're limiting your potential customers by only offering it in that lower res. I myself run CM at 1152x864. The 1024x768 screen is even smaller than my viewable area. I haven't done other screen sizes as there are 4 others including the 2 you have mentioned. I run my screen at 800x600. I have found that if I use the others sizes, my machine gets unstable. So therefore I can't test the Interface to see what it looks like.
