pritzl
I wonder how difficut it would be for somebody with some programming talent to write a simple Combat Mission Campaign Program. I would just have to be a relatively simple program. For example, something that would allow a person to draw or scan his own maps and then be imported into the application and a gid (scaled according to player's choice) would automatically be layed over the map. Blank counters would allow you to enter unit information such as name, strength, etc. You could set up the counters on the map and then move them around according to the results of battles in Combat Mission. This application could be generic enough to allow it to be used for CMBO, CMBB, etc. It could probably be adapted to any number of other games as well. There wouldn't even need to be any complex rules. These would be agreed on by participating players. Just include a rough outline of suggested movement rates, artillery ranges, supply issues and such in an included readme file. I'm sure a lot of guys would be willing to contribute to such a document. The nice thing is that an application like this would be scalable for everything from company to division or possibly Corps sized engagements. What do you guys think? Blackhorse
This program already exists. It's called COCAT and is currently in use in the CMMC. COCAT at CMMC HQ
Col Deadmarsh
I wonder if it would be possible to just use a graphics program to show the maps and where the forces are on the maps. It seems to me that this could all be done using Photoshop or somefink. What do you think?
Lah
Campaign cartographer 2 is what you need: http://www.profantasy.com/ It's a bit pricey and aimed at fantasy but you can make hex maps easily. It also has 'layers' that you can place and move troops units on. I am working on a campaign game that may be used on the rugged defence teams ladder. If you would like to join a team there pick one of the higher teams that are still active. http://home.primus.com.au/chasb/rdcm/ladder2.htm LAH UK-The Light brigade
pritzl
I had no idea Cocat even existed. It is exactly what I had in mind! Who knew? I just recently switched my game playing machine to a pc (still use the mac for work) and have finally been able to take advantage of all of these cool things. thanks!
