Background grass?

Recommended Posts

Recently I have started to use subdued grass mods, especially DDs grass. Just when I thought I got rid of that ugly green, I noticed that the grass in the "off the map" area is still bright green. Is that background area a separate file? Or am I destined to live with traffic-light green forever?

Aghh.. the old "grass on outskirts of map" question.

The grass your game is using is the hi-res set. However, one of the lo-res grass bmp's is used for that off map region.

The culprit bmp is 1503. Just take the hi-res equivalent, 1553.bmp, and copy it to 1503.bmp. Problem solved.

OR you can just install the lo-res version of DD grass. Up to you.

Denizen,

Don't get confused by the "old off map grass question" comment. It didn't imply its a stupid question. I meant its been asked several times.

Its a question I've had to ask, and so have others. Its not an easy thing to find out about. It was a pleasure for me to be able to inform someone else on how to change the strange off map color.

Hope you enjoy the new subdued look!

I thought the "off map" grass were 1501 to 1519. When I switched to DD grass I took 1551-1569, made them LoRes back and renamed to 1501-1519. It works ...

Clubfoot I think the map "edge" is hardcoded, but I'm not a specialist...
