There is a Boche sniper on the second floor of a bldg who picks of a halftrack gunner. I send a squad dashing off to the place over an open field in plain view. The GIs ascend to the 2nd floor. The sniper: doesn't move, doesn't run away, doesn't even get off a final desperation shot with his bolt-action. He just dies. Sometimes he hangs around for a turn or so until they find him. But he still dies. I know a sniper isn't equpped to deal with a squad but his passivity disappointed me. You assume that this type of guy would be more heavily indoctrinated, thus more fanatic than the average Nazi. He could at least have taken someone down with him or quietly split. BTW, he was crack.
