Guest *Captain Foobar*
Somebody help me out here. Babel-fish refuses to tell me what this means, and while you're at it, try and explain the context of these "war cries" while you're at it..... Joseph Porta
Doesn't Rodina meen 'Mother Russia' ?
vimes
Rodina means birthplace, there is also otechestvo which has the same meaning as rodidna. I suspect they were saying something like za rodinu, because just haloring rodana by its lonesome doesn’t mean much.
DmTs
I'm Russian, so I'm am expert in this topic Ourrah - russian battle scream. Pobeida - more exactly - Pobjeda - right, Victory. Rodina - right, MotherLand. Typical phrase for attack - "Za Rodinu, Za Stalina, Ourrah, Vperjed!!" (For MotherLand, For Stalin, Go Ahead!) I'm really hope that BTS team have some russians and we'll get real russian names (and not only russian but other nations that were in Soviet Union) and real russian battle language. BTS - I'm ready to help! [This message has been edited by DmTs (edited 10-09-2000).]
DEF BUNGIS
DmTs; I see your profile say's your in Moscow. Cool. I'm heading over to Germany around May 01. One of my goals is to visit Russia, and possibly Moscow during my 3 year stay. I tried to get over there back in 1989, right after the wall came down, but it was still a security violation for my job. I made it all the way to the Ukraine-Czech boarder. Anyway, it sure would be nice to possibly link up if I make it there. Maybe a guided tour of the city? Possibly a hot seat game too huh? I can't garauntee I will get all the way to Moscow, but I will for sure visit some part of Russia. If your interested, I can stay in contact and send you an E-MAIL once I'm in Europe. Sound cool?
