poesel
On-board mortar teams get these nice green lines to target when they are busy with an artillery (non-direct) request. These lines show up, when you have the caller selected - good. They also show, when the mortars are spotting and (I guess) firing - also good. But they don't show when the team is 'receiving' - ??? Is this intentional or a bug? If intentional where's the reason behind that? One might accidentally move a team that's receiving because there is no indication.
poesel
Did some testing. Kudos to BFC for a well thought process. The green lines immediately show from the HQ or FO when you start an order. On the receiver side the lines show as soon as the team goes into the 'preparing' stage but not when in 'receiving'. But: although it is necessary for the mortar to be deployed and in range at the time when you start the order you can actually move the team around while it is receiving. You can even order and move in the same turn/second as long as you order first and then move. If the mortar is not deployed and in range when receiving ends the artillery strike gets automatically cancelled. It is also cancelled when you pack up on and after the preparing stage. So the green lines from the mortar teams appear at the time when you should not move the team unless you want to cancel the mission. Makes sense. One could argue that by this logic it should be possible to give artillery missions to undeployed in range teams. But then many players would forget to deploy their teams in time and wonder where their missions went. Lots of confused players vs small loss of flexibilty - easy choice.
