Sefchick
Are there going to be Paratrooper and Glider Landings in CM?
Fionn
Paratroop and glider-borne troops are in CM yes. However parachute drops and gliders crashlanding etc won't be graphically represented. Instead units will start on the ground in scattered locations. ------------------ ___________ Fionn Kelly Manager of Historical Research, The Gamers Net - Gaming for Gamers
Guest Big Time Software
Fionn is correct. At CM's scale and timeframe para drops could not be done well since men would have to be scattered pretty much man for man, not in whole squads. Glider drops could be argued for, but there are so few examples of troops fighting directly out of gliders (at least against a "fun" force of defenders) that it didn't seem worthy of our time as we would have had to code up a crap load of physicis for the gliders and parachutes, combat rules for engaging falling targets, special forming up penalties, etc. Ugh HOWEVER, you can simulate both at time periods after the intial organization and drop. Example... Say you want to simulate a drop about 10-15 minutes after hitting the dirt. Simply scatter the attacker's (para commander's) forces all over the map. Then make the defender's stuff deployed in the way you want. Bingo, para drop after forming at least 1/2 squads. Same concept for glider drops.
