To BTS,

Many thanks for providing us war dogz out here the opportunity help make Combat Mission a better game. This forum is great. Special thanks to Steve for helping keep it that way. Best of luck and hope to see the game out this summer.

Regards,

Mike, you are very welcome. If these discussions weren't important to making Combat Mission better we wouldn't be here each and every day (several times a day in fact!). But the truth is that you guys keep us on our toes and, in some cases, actually make us think about something we hadn't thought of! Imagine that wink.gif

The way we look at it these posts are shortening the beta cycle by weeks, if not months. In fact, the first member of the press just got a look at CM in person and can't understand why we keep calling it an Alpha smile.gif By other company's definitions we have a beta, even though nobody but Charles and I have played it. The discussions we have on this board are largely responsible for that impression. Call it Virtual Beta Testing!

Free virtual "copies" of the game? Suuuuure smile.gif

Actually, a good number of the people who have been posting here regularly, and have really stood out in terms of quality contributions and maturity, will wind up being Beta testers.

Now before everybody starts asking me if they are going to be a "chosen one", let me explain that we are having several rounds of testing, adding new people with each round. There will be an early round, when the game is still fairly rough beta (read Final Candidate for other companies <g>) and at least one more round after that when the game is getting close to FC status (normal 1.2 release <G>).

Unfortunately, not everyone that has contributed to this board will get to test. We already have more good candidates than we do testing slots. There are practical limits as to how many testers we can handle. At some number it becomes burdensome and actually hinders testing (if you have seen 10 long winded reports about the same minor bug in a single morning, you'd understand <g>).

Those who aren't selected as testers should take pride that they probably have, through their postings, made Combat Mission a better game for themselves and their fellow gamers. We can certainly make kick ass games without this kind of a forum (we always have in the past), but now that we have done this experiment once, we can safely say it will be repeated in the future!

In any case, everyone that posts on this board has our deepest thanks. This should mean something as very few companies give their fans even this much back. And the fact that we actually MEAN it should make it count double smile.gif
