citizen
I for one like FOW, surprises, and the unexpected in battle as much as tactical maneuvering and fighting. I would suggest to BTS and other scenario/campaign designers to label their creations with something that would indicate the "more interesting" side. Or indicate which side is going to face the most "surprises." Anyone who first played Last Defense as the US didn't get to feel the terror of the 3 unexpected Hellcats. Switching to then play the Germans, one can't help but look at the hill around turn 9 to prepare. Fixed minefields and hidden pillboxes just won't be the same if we play your scenario from the defending side first. A simple tag line like "Play as G 1st" would suffice. Naturally, this tag is intended for solo play. Seeing that tag on the PBEM scenario you are about to play wouldn't give too much away, but would cause a bit of paranoia. Or it could be a way for a "good" player to give a newbie a chance. citizen
Fionn
THAT kind of stuff will be included in the briefing text but NOT in the scenario title (it'd get too long otherwise). Scenario designers are well aware of this issue. ------------------ ___________ Fionn Kelly Manager of Historical Research, The Gamers Net - Gaming for Gamers
