Javaslinger
So I've got a few squads crossing a field and they're taking a casualty here and there and getting rattled, but they can't see a thing. Not so much as a sound contact... Sniper?
YankeeDog
Sniper is the most likely explanation. They're not 'invisible', but if the sniper is at least 300m away and in good cover, he'll be very hard to spot. Stationary teams with binocs have the best chance of getting at least some idea of where the sniper is. You may also be able to make some deductions as to where the sniper is based on surrounding terrain, and where the casualties you took are located.
WynnterGreen
Ahhh, here's a noob question then. Will tracer fire potentially give away a snipers position in WEGO? In the OP's instance, where there's not even a sound contact, could repeated turn playback reviews 'give the otherwise invisible sniper away due to trace?' 'Gamey', I know, which is why I'm interested. I'm extremely new to the game and still getting to grips with fundamental mechanics, let alone possibly important details like this.
