  1. Direct fire mortars are a little bit OP. I want to preface this post with this comment, I've been constantly told of the power of artillery. It's dominance in all forms is well proven, and I understand its only role.as the king of battle. However, the ability to lay and begin a 82mm mortar barrage in under a minute into any terrain which your Pixeltruppen can see even the smallest amount of grants mortars unbelievable power. The power of direct fire mortars is such that on map mortars are much more valuable for their direct fire capabilities than any other. Counterarguments The need to have LOS leaves the mortar vulnerable to retaliatory direct fire from other units, SFMGs for example. Whilst this is true to life. I believe the difficultty of achieving total suppression in CM will nearly allow the mortar team to continue its barrage, even remaining capable of adjusting to new targets. I've never worked with any sort of OS. So I may be wrong with this, and perhaps those with more experience in the OS field will help me out. But sometimes I can't help but feel that I control an 82mm AGL rather than a tube on a plate. Solutions? Perhaps simply increasing the lay time for mortars in a direct fire role? (Side note) I wish there was an ability to 'lay' guns onto targets and delay any fire mission until required. I understand TRPs exist and they are extremely useful. But a system more akin to final protective fires or delayed missions (beyond the 5,10,15,20 option) would be awesome. I.e. A US observer calls for fire from a pair of 155mm m777s on a location, the spotting rounds go ahead as normal. Once zeroed the mortars remain, layed onto that particular target. The options for the mortar battery in the offensive support tab are labelled as 'begin fire mission' and 'cancel'. If the player cancels the mortars take 1 minute to understand the order, as per the already implemented delay regarding 'cease fire'. If the order to fire is given the mortars immediately begin firing, there is no need for any delay beyond that would be required for someone to pull the lanyard and for the round to fly. (NOTE: A system similar to this is possible utilising a system such as the PzH 2000 is possible in the 'modern titles, setting the observes and guns to Elite and utilising the TRP system will give fires in 1 minute or so.)
