  1. HOLY **** IT WORKED! Finally I can play the demo at least of this game. I have learned a new lesson today, that OEM drivers are garbage. I now regret not trying this sooner. Thank you so much for everyone who's helped over the last few months.
  2. I'm starting to suspect the acer OEM drivers are a piece of ****, gonna try switching to generic drivers and see if that solves my problem.
  3. Well thats an issue then, if Intel isn't offering any packages but its still not working for me whats the issue?
  4. Yeah, thats what I'm hoping for too. I'm convinced now that I'm just missing an OpenGL thingy from the install. Especially after looking through this stuff, and the fact that my computer isn't that old, I'm crossing my fingers that I can eventually get it to work.
  5. Ok, I'm back. I did some more research and a bit of learning, and it turns out my chipset does in fact support OpenGL up to version 4.4 However, when looking at the intel website for support, it mentioned that, "OpenGL*, OpenCL*, and Vulkan* drivers must be installed separately, and are only distributed with the game or application that requires it. " https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000059251/graphics.html I think the problem I'm having with the demo is that it didn't come with a separate installer of some kind. Maybe this isn't the issue, but either way I have a new sense of resolve to try and fix this problem. I still really want to try out Black Sea and maybe buy it.
  6. Yeah I've given up on this honestly. My computer will not accept the latest as it's completely incompatible (uninstalling does nothing), and I already have the latest OEM driver. Every single avenue of checking for updates to my OEM driver shows that its the latest version, including both intel and acer's tools. Considering this game was released in 2014 and my driver is from 2017, I doubt updating it would accomplish much anyways. I'm still confused though, I could have sworn that I've played other games which use OpenGL with absolutly no problems before in the past. I guess this is just a quirk of integrated chips, and maybe I'll try this game in the distant future when I can afford a discrete graphics unit. Either way, thanks for the help, I do appreciate it and will remember it when I try this game in the future.
  7. My GPU must be a special snowflake because it seems to only be compatible with OEM and not generic drivers. It doesn't say my drivers are up to date, instead it says no supported driver or software updates. Also surely if it was an OpenGL issue there would be at least another game in my steam library that would be broken right? Once again, I'm glad you're still working on my problem. Maybe this long chain of messages can hopefully help someone else in the future.
  8. Unfortunately the generic latest driver is incompatible with my system. At this point, I'm starting to lose hope of this issue being resolved given how its apparently a hardware incompatibility. I'm still confused though, how come this game in particular seems to refuse to work?
  9. I tried and it didn't work on my laptop monitor either, perhaps its because of my driver?
  10. BTW, I'm very thankful that you've stayed on my issue for this long. I don't think I've ever gotten this much patience from tech support for any other game. If I can actually get the demo to work, I'm definitely buying black sea on steam
  11. I checked and my zip file is the same size you listed, so no issues there. The few KB larger thing was the extracted version (pardon my stupidity.) I can indeed hear music during the black screen, and I can move the green mouse cursor too. I noticed the crashing only started when I switched my refresh rate to a higher option. I am 100% certain the BRZ is fine since it's identical to the one you listed. Additionally, I use 7 zip for the extraction and I already reinstalled the game. I'm starting to suspect it might have to do with some bug, because I don't think I've had display issues with any other game I have played.
  12. I noticed that my download from the website is a few KB larger than the size you listed. I reinstalled, and this time instead of hanging up forever, it just crashes and leaves behind a display size file of 0 0 0 and a preference file, so that's progress I guess
  13. I have every file there except for the pfc. I made a display size.txt like you suggested and used the 1920 1080 60 numbers. However, now it just crashes instead of hanging on the black screen. I do in fact see the into and then it goes to black screen
  14. I can see the mouse and hear audio, but all I see is a green mouse with music playing in the background. I noticed that my documents folder has no preferences file in it or a display.size.txt
  15. I'm certain this dude had the same issue as me, and he got it fixed by configuring using a config file or something that was emailed.
  16. I used the auto update tool, and I'm using the latest drivers. Someone else mentioned configuring the game, which I'm pretty sure is the issue. What's weird is that this is the first game I have ever had problems with using an intel chip with. Is it just due to age?
  17. Well, I'm running it on a intel UHD 620 if I remember correctly, which should be more than able to run a game with, no offence, last gen graphics. is it just some sort of bug?
  18. Um, that didn't work, I checked and the exe is inside the root directory of the game. When I moved it, rather than launching with no graphics it simply said it could not find the BRZ file, so I can only assume a missing BRZ file isn't the issue, especially since the demo only has one
  19. I saw the Combat Mission Black Sea game on steam, and some people said there was a demo. So I downloaded the demo and tried it. Unfortunately, when I opened it up, it had a black screen with only the green mouse available. I searched it up, and apparently there was another user a while ago who had the same issue, and it had something to do with a prefs file in the root directory. So I checked my own root directory and low and behold, no prefs file. This other user got a prefs file emailed to them, and I was wondering if I could get something similar.
