M60s vs T64/72/80 is a similar situation to US M4 Shermans vs Panther in WWII. You aren't going to win long range tank duels. Canalize them, strip the infantry off, & hit them from the sides.
The big difference with WWII anti-German tank tac tactics and CW tank tactics is that the Germans probably never actually fielded a full strength Panther battalion in combat. The Sov OTOH...

I remember playing the US campaign and having to set my M60s off to the side of where the Soviet FSE was going to approach from. I played through it before having set the M60s up on the hill overlooking the valley and they all got turned into scrap metal in 2 turns. Having the M60s in hull-down defilade hitting the Sovs from the flank is probably the best way I found to fight them without too many losses.

Rice's biggest handicap is that nobody in DC is particularly impressed with her judgement and it goes back to 2000-2001. When the Bush administration came in, the Clinton folks and the DC policy wonks were telling them incessantly to worry about AQ and terrorism. Rice and her coterie had been out of power for 8 years and still had essentially a Cold War mindset. So they came in talking about missile proliferation and little else while expressing open disdain for the advice they were getting. Then when it blew up in our faces they pretended that none of that happened. So sure, she's not the immortal, immoral husk that Kissinger is but she'd need a buck to get a cup of coffee from actual policy people in DC.I thought you guys were talking about Rice the CM:Afghanistan enjoy.

Sounds more interesting than what my friends did while serving their 2 year mandatory service in Taiwan. One of my friends was assigned to a WW2 era minesweeper and he said that they were almost always tied up to the dock and if they left the harbor he was always afraid the ship would sink.

Yeah I just chatted with my friend about this and told him about using breaching teams in CMBS. He's a royal engineer commando and told me that his unit had just finished a recent training where they rigged a building to blow when the enemy comes in to occupy it.

There are still some ardent Trump supporters and they get more notice than they deserve. But those are decreasing every day. I'm a conservative who voted for him twice and I, like most people I know, just want him to go away.

100% agree. I thought he was the better of two choices back in 2020 after memeing with my friends about him in 2016 back in high school. But turns out he's just dumb. I hope he doesn't make it back onto the ballot otherwise 2024 is gonna be another really dumb match between bad choices again.

Hopefully deterrence will prevail. A strong posture by the West along with allied's in the region will prevent any conflict. A lot of the regional nations are very upset with China. Its expansion and things like fishing rights have come to the forefront. There's also history.
On an informal level both sides, especially the militarizes who will be the recipients of any hot conflict know just how destructive and deadly it will be so hopefully it will just stay at rhetoric.
I would hope that Xi is more rational than Putin. Most though Putin would never actually launch a full scale invasion of Ukraine, though.
I hope so man. I don't want to see everything I knew growing up be destroyed all because of some stupid ****ing political party wanting to take over the land my family has lived on for hundreds of years.

Rip always kind of painful to see this hypothetical conflict being wargamed out, but I guess it's a very likely conflict that could happen. Wish I won't have to be placed in a similar scenario like the Ukrainian guy in the "How Hot will Ukraine Get" thread.

agreed. you can get multi-kills on BMP-3s that are bunched up if one of them decides to evolve into a Soyuz satellite.
