I was surprised by that as well. Didn't do no damage though...

I have had the same problem in the blitzkrieg tournament. I believe it is a problem with how their scoring system handles surrenders. It counts as if the battle never finished as you never reached the final turn.
-
I want to thank @Artkin for making sure we could finish our first round of the tournament, and for making it an interesting set of matches.
This is the end result from my assault. Was able to have a TRP on a group of his T72s which was fortunate for me and I was able to take all objectives.
For my defense, I tried to spread out my tanks as much as possible, and although their performance was overall very lackluster, I did have a hero crew who destroyed
3 T62s and 2 BMPs before going down, by hiding in the small forward Western set of buildings. Their sacrifice will be remembered.

Sure hope his dislike for the area fire order isn't playing a factor in playing. Interesting how he was very active in that discussion while not playing your game. Hate to see unfinished games in the first invitational tourney for CM. In my nearly 25 yrs of playing CM1 and 2 in lots of tourneys/campaigns/ladders, I've never come across a player wanting a house rule for restricted area fire use.
Hope you guys can finish up, think you got until the 14th.
Yeah, we have been sporadically getting turns in, and it might be close. Hopefully we can conclude things before it defaults, as that would be upsetting.

Yeah, have found the t-72's in this fight extremely lackluster. They just don't have the penetration power to reliably kill.

I think there was a bit of a 'heated debate' about rules in this match so I'm not sure it will complete (I may be wrong) - see the thread here if interested:
That would be disappointing if it doesn't end up finishing. People can have disagreements, but I would hope that an "invitational" tournament would have people who want to play and finish games against the best the game has to offer. @Artkin last said that he was busy when I last was able to contact him on the 20th of March, so hopefully he will have some time freed up so we can complete.

I'd advise you to watch combat footage and see just how blind modern day equipment is. Vehicles are not able to see muzzle flashes like a human eye can.
CM already has a mechanic if a vehicle spots an enemy. The turret will turn and the entire vehicle will rotate toward the threat IF it gets a partial, a sound, or a full contact. Or even if it gets hit and can determine where the gunfire is coming from.
That's not even what I'm talking about.
I never said that "Vehicles should just stand still and get shot without response".
Don't put words in my mouth. Don't abuse CM's interface like a cheese ball either. It's not how the game is meant to be played.
1. I don't "abuse" CM. Don't accuse me of something that is untrue.
2. How the game is "meant" to be played? I didn't know there was a right and wrong way to play a game, other than by the rules you set up with your opponent beforehand and those imposed by the engine itself.
-
If your vehicle sees gunfire coming from a bush, you should be able to shoot at it even if you can't see the gun itself. To assume that vehicles should just stand still and get shot without response is kind of ridiculous.

It's not possible in real life lol.
Tanks instantly sniping infantry the second an infantryman sees them 1km away? A t-72 sniping the exact position your hidden atgm is in?
Lol, come on man. It defies reality and puts CM on a worse level than armored brigade.
Do you consider sound contacts a good enough spot for area fire? If I see an atgm fired from a position and hear the crew there, but don't see the crew itself, would you consider it wrong to fire at the area? I would imagine the area fire would be quite logical.

@Jackal2100 in the game that you lost points, did you complete the battle by clciking End and having the last file sent to your opponent? That's what it looks like on the leaderboard. It looks like you timed out and @Tyrandar got 1,000 points, instead of 162.
Yep, I hit end on both, and one was sent back. I still have the other final file in my inbox that is to be expected from the tournament.
Edit: This is the same problem I had with the last set of tournaments, and my guess it would be from some problem with the system not reading an opponent's surrender properly. -
-
The scoring for this tournament is broken like the last one was. It gave me a timeout penalty even though my games were finished multiple weeks ago.
-
If you are talking about green and conscript troops, then wouldn't it make sense that it could also be because of their lack of maintenance with their vehicles. If you throw a bunch of men inside of a tank, and tell them to drive in a straight line, they can do that, but they might not have realized that one of the gears was already breaking down.
-
That is also a large amount of vehicles. To only have 4 bog out of all of that isn't particularly bad, especially cross-country.
-
The tournament starts today, correct? I haven't received any files yet.
-
Excited to die for my countries.
-
Why would a soldier not target a suspected enemy position? Especially if it is a big enough threat to destroy vehicles. If a commander wants to allocate a large amount of energy dislodging a 2-man team, isn't that a win for the defender anyways?
-
Makes sense, and I appreciate the system placed all together like this, but I am more worried about losing points in completed games. I've lost multiple thousands of points for "timing out" of games that had completed in its entirety.

Check and see if you have the initial turn again.
Yes, it looks like it was reset. I pressed the enter button on my keyboard being very careful not to touch anything else. Hopefully it works properly. Thank you for the assistance. Still don't understand the scoring though.

You're right. It doesn't.
I've asked them if there is any way to resend your initial file.
Thank you. Don't know if this is related, but it is showing one of our two games as completed with him having 3030 points and me having 2025. @cargol, is this you? If so, are you also seeing this issue?

The only explanation is that you accidentally hit a key (or keys) when you first opened the initial file and created a password.
And I tried using a password that has a single space key/double/etc. and none of those worked. So I sent it in to support, and their idea that they had me do was run the game as an administrator, even though I don't think that has anything to do with the password system.

Is that with the initial time that you had a turn from that side or was it the 2nd file that you got?
That would be from the attacker's side, I believe the second file.

Sent a message to slitherine support, but thought I'd mention it here as well. Ran into a bug that in my CW game, for the offensive side, it will not accept a blank password to start the game/deploy. I also see that I somehow have 2025 points in the third round even though one battle hasn't started and the other is on turn 1. I am really confused and some clarity would be appreciated.
