  1. Did a little testing in Shock Force 2. It gets a little weird.

Used a 6 man U.S. engineering squad with 6 demo charges. The full squad used 3 charges against a building. Down 3 charges, they use 2 for the next blast. They have no problem blasting with their final single charge.

If you split the squad, you wind up with two 3 man teams, one with 4 charges, the other with 2. Either 3 man team will use 1 charge.

If you split a squad, use 1 charge, then recombine, the full squad will use 2 charges next time.

I'm looking into the night tracer issue.

After some research, my issue doesn't really seem to be about those specific tracers, but any tracers with the [night] mod tag. As a test I added the [night] mod tag to a copy of the default tracers and the identical issue pops up. So I'm pretty sure it's some problem on my end.

Couldn't NATO put some sort of surveillance aircraft over theBlack sea that would be able to spot helicopters and send the data around? I quite like the idea of theRussian choppers being spotted from one side, and hit by long range SAMs from the other.

The E-3 Sentry AWACS, and probably the E-8C Joint Stars as well. My earlier post about sending Switchblades (probably too slow) assumes that the U.S. knows about the helicopters from the moment they leave the flight deck.

In theory this is how you can extend the range of a MANPAD.  You can fly the drone to the edge of its range and launch the missile from there.  The problem is commercial drones + MANPAD still doesn't get you to 10km.  What it does do is fix the problem of terrain masking.  Theoretically.

The big problem with such drones is that you will need some other form of detection to know when to put one in the air and where to send it.  Without that you're just looking for a needle in a haystack and that's not a good way to go.

Why not the Switchblade 600. I bet it can lock on to a helicopter as easily as a tank.

I'm just catching up on the thread, but I have to say that is exactly the way it looked to me as well.  Maybe someone was trying for  meme.  I dunno, like "hey, don't target me!"?

That twitter link has a video of a vehicle with the same marking minus the black paint in the center. It's a real symbol.

  6. Has anyone noticed that in Shock Force 2 almost all the building and wall textures have 12kb blank normal maps? A few doors have actual normal maps, but they don't match up. I wonder if the correct normal maps were made but wound up not getting put in place on accident and no one noticed. Or was it decided that it was just not worth the effort.
