  1. All of my currently installed titles (BN, RT, FB, FI,  and BS) are crashing after 45-75 minutes of gameplay. They have been crashing for a year now. I've just spent the last 2 days designing a large map. The crash only happens in 3D mode. So in this case the crash was happening as I previewed the 3D terrain. Map was mostly finished and took it for a test quick battle. Crashed before I could finish the battle which is sad because it was very bloody. I just found this post. I'll try shutting off shaders and installing the advanced war movie mod thingy.

Huh?  This makes no sense.  You're angry with me because I don't want to string you guys along with dates pulled out of my backside, then make up more BS dates that I am not confident we can deliver upon just to appease demands for dates?  Or are you angry with me because I don't have magical powers?

Seriously, this is just another example of the futility of release dates.  If I post wrong ones we get skewered for not delivering on expectations those dates set.  If I post no dates we get skewered for not doing things which set expectations which we aren't sure we can meet.  Damned if we do, damned if we don't is a really unfair position to be in, but we accept that is the way things work.

Given that we have to make a choice between being damned for setting up expectations that aren't met or damned for not setting up expectations, I think the right choice is the latter.  If someone wants to lay out a rational case for doing things differently, I'm all ears.

P.S.  one of the beautiful things about being an independent, self publishing game developer is we don't have any problem with someone tuning out for a year and then coming back to see what we have.  We don't have a 60 day window to make or break our future like other game companies.  So if people want to check back with us in a year because that works best for that person, it works fine for us too.  No pressure.

    Huh? This makes no sense.

How did you jump to the conclusion that I was angry with you or anyone else? Sarcasm doesn't = anger. It means I'm tired of waiting for news from you guys and tired of waiting for new products to buy and I was tired of waiting over a year ago.

How did you decide that me and everyone else wants dates? I don't give a damn about dates. Developers can keep customers in the loop by simply letting us know what they're doing. Are you excited about something you're making? Sweet! Maybe tell us about it so we can be excited with you. Or just keep doing what you're doing and say absolutely NOTHING for over a year at a time. You're the first company I've ever seen admit that it doesn't see a problem with "customers tuning out".

How did you all make the decision that not engaging your customers at all for a year or more is perfectly ok and normal? People aren't asking for release dates. They're asking for information. Based on what devs show us, we can generally figure out about when something is coming or nearing completion anyway (because....they tell us....). Instead you've missed I think two "deadlines" (by the end of next month, twice). Instead of giving the date you can't make, just be like "guys we are getting very close to release we are just polishing X vehicle and TOE up and Fred drew boobs on all the tank textures when we sacked him so we gotta go fix those". Instead we get nothing at all.

You just updated the website to be in the new millennium. I'd suggest you update this keep everyone in the dark policy. This is the information age and we want information. Hell, even Games Workshop is doing a great job engaging customers nowadays. I love you guys half to death and appreciate what you do for our tiny niche community but what is literally happening here is people are yelling shut up and take my money and you're just shoving your fingers in your ears and going lalalalala i can't or don't want to hear you. Not cool, brother.

I definitely appreciate customers want to be informed about when things are/aren't happening.  We do like you to be informed, unfortunately after 20 years of doing this it doesn't get any easier to make predictions.  The problem is every time I post some sort of update people pester me to make a new release date estimate.  When that comes and goes people want another one.  And if that one comes and goes, I'm pushed to make another one.  I've found it's usually better to say nothing as much as possible.  In the end customers are not better/worse informed because no matter what I do and do not say the game will only get released when it's ready.  And even I don't know when that is until about 10 minutes before it goes live.

You know what? You're right. I am terribly sorry I inconvenienced you and your company in my excitement to exchange paper for a digital product. I'll check back in a year and maybe there'll actually be something to buy on here that I don't already own. I'll go ahead and pester some other unfortunate company with my wallet. Thanks.

I think there's some persistent MP campaigns, that are PvE focused, for DCS. Haven't seriously invested much time into MP, though. F-14 and Mi-24, you say? That sounds sick, but they really need a proper campaign generator. I got tired of the RNG missions. The embarrassing thing about DCS tanks is that I paid 15 CAD for them. IL-2 ones were free, and I never touched them. I like the singleplayer campaigns in "Battle of (series)".

I'd buy that (for more than a dollar)! France has more of a reason to be in SF than most of the other NATO nations. I hope that's what BFC intends to do with SF2. I'd also like Iranian and Russian OPFOR packs -- as well as BLUFOR UNCONS (FSA/Kurds).

The only persistent campaigns I know about are the colored flag ones. F-14 is announced and being worked on as we speak. Mi-24 should come out later this year. I agree the missions are kinda crap though. If DCS could implement the new dynamic campaign system that IL-2 has the game would be nearly perfect.

I want all the things you want and some day we'll get it.

    I have some

I fell off on the DCS. theres a few that have come out and a few on the way I really want but there whole system has just gotten too pricey for me and I have a couple of real buyers regret issues on a couple of A/C. that havent gotten much support or I thought Id like and outright didnt (Ka50, where I love the UH1 for example)

I have nearly every module in DCS. My favorite was the F-5e not just because it was detailed but because it wasn't complicated. It made getting into the sim very easy. I preordered the F-18 and beyond impressed with it. I will also preorder the F-14, Mi-24, F-4, and F-16 too.

DCS is a beautiful sim, for sure. Too bad there's not much to do.

Oh, and they really gotta work on those tanks. That mode's embarrassing.

I'd love an Operation Downfall Combat Mission. Maybe with a northern islands expansion, bringing in the Soviets. It will never happen. 😭

The tanks part isn't anymore embarrassing than the tanks part in IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of (series). It's just an afterthought. But much like the tanks mode in War Thunder, they'll eventually be fully fleshed out parts of the game. As much as already been announced for IL-2 which will see not only the Flying Circus WWI standalone module this year but also the Battle of Bodenplatte (bringing us into late war with some US stuff and the first jet) and whatever they're calling the tank revamp. I agree there isn't much to do in DCS but that's why you need to buy/download missions and campaigns or just make your own. But then again, I'm obsessed with cold ramp startups, not MP PVP.

I had to think about that for a second. No need to buy the full upgrade if you just have the old basegame. If you want to purchase modules they're going to be CMSF2 product without the need to upgrade. The old CMSF1 is going to disappear from BFC store items (I believe).

Yep. It's actually already gone. You can only buy an upgrade from the retail version and none of the modules are being sold anymore so I can't complete my Shockforce collection in order to get the new modules discounted. I dunno why I didn't have these modules in the first place. Maybe they were on an old account. Maybe Afghanistan or something was already out by the time I bought some of the older games I had skipped. Dunno.

    well to be fair theres

    CMANO

DCS added the F18 and naval ops are going to be greatly enhanced

That Battle of the Atlantic turn based game

Cold Waters ( yes i know its not ww2)

plus mods for SH3 and 4 imcluding one where you control surface ships.

If anything naval warfare is pretty well represented in the realism front. while it seems we have a plethora of ground based strat games most are jokes realism wise...

And Im not even big on sea games

I have literally all of those games. I want to give Battlefront money though.

  8. Battlefront hasn't released a single damn thing in over 13 months. Getting really sick and tired of waiting. I buy everything this company makes but the absolutely anemic nature of any form of update, patch, new content, or new game is really getting on my goddamn nerves.

How long does it take to reuse old assets and shovel out a new game? Farming really? Men of your talent?

I've been checking the stupid website for a single freaking announcement every single week for over a year now. Why the fk do I have to beg you to give me something to spend money on? Why do you make it so fking hard for yourself to make money? JFC....

Every release contains a HUGE number of vehicles and units, and every additional module does the same.  In the CMBN line, for instance, I can't think of a single significant vehicle we don't now have for the time period covered.

I've been checking the website once a week every week since June hoping something new comes out so I can buy it. Would prefer and expansion on RT with some SU-100s or extend the campaign into 43 and 45 but would honestly take anything at this point including africa or early war stuff. Anything at all for me to spend my money on. Bueller?
