  1. I have the movie on Blu Ray watched it last year. Its worth a watch. Low budget film but still something different.

I did like how they wore the correct camo Plane tree smocks and helmet covers, I seen a Oakleaf Winter Parka fall side quite cool to see as i do like my Camos.

I do own Generation War which is really good. many others of the great WW2 films.

Also there are many books out on Waffen SS. Just read Black Edelweiss good read, he tell a story when he is a POW after the war and while all the combat is fresh in his mind and tells why he joined the SS.

yes it is realistic.. It sounds like you just don't want it to be true.  It can also penetrate a stug IIIs side armor. You would be surprised at what it could do.

And no a late war German half-track could not deal with .50cal bullets as you say.

It never penetrates the panther. The issue is that the .50 even chooses to shoot at all against a target it cannot really damage.

I quote user1000. He said it can Penetrate a a Panther and Stug side armor. This can not be right and would love to see some evidence from the war that it could.

If it can in this game then its a bug that needs fixing. also If a .50 cal is firing at a panther when it has no chance is a bug also unless you direct fire at it.

As you may damage the optics. but to destroy a Panther is very unrealistic

I did read somewhere with the sloped side armor it did stop heavy machine guns.

    I did find this

" The armour plates were designed to stop penetration by standard rifle/heavy machine gun bullets (like the Mauser 7.9X57mm bullet) by using both metal thickness and armour sloping. The fairly vertical front-facing plates were 14.5mm thick; the sides were steeply angled, V-shape and just 8mm thick, saving weight. These plates were both safe against the normal (non-tungsten) rifle AP round, which could pierce about 8mm of vertical armour.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sd.Kfz._251

Really can pen a Stugs side armor.

I just don't see a .50 cal pening a Panther this does not seem right

Nothing like a degenerate youtube video to remind the community why the game is best kept away from steam at knock down prices ;)

gets the game some publicity and sales though. I found the game through his videos.

Now i own CMBN all packs CMBF CMRT. The game does need to be publicized more more sales more content for us.

Dont know how steam works but it dose sell alot of games

Ironcross, you mention RO2.  If you like that, you should check out Darkest Hour - a free, western front mod of RO1.  You get to play as US or Brits (infantry, paras and armoured) or Germans (Wehrmacht, SS and armour) on maps in Normandy through to the Bulge.  It's "realistic" - no crosshairs, radar or revival, and you're generally one-shotted (as my kids would say).  Sure it's a bit old, graphics-wise, but it does a much better job than RO2 when it comes to tanks and bigger maps.  I always think of DH as the wargamer's FPS.

Yeah i have seen this Mod not played it much as i got into RO2 also RO2 now has a West Front mod and Pacific add one. I do like the West front one has D-Day and lots of other cool battles. I will have to get DH a try and see how it is as ive never really give it a chance.

Over the years, various WWII titles, including the boardgame ASL.

Since CMx2 came out, my interest in other games has really hit a low ebb. Part of that is getting older and having more RL demands. But most of it is just not being satisfied with anything else beyond the novelty phase. Other games ultimately serve to pretty much just reinforce how awesome CM is.

My most recent WWII titles have been Iron Front 1944, GTOS, and just this last two weeks, (5 bucks on sale) RO2/RS.

I had a lot of fun with IFL1944, but it has too many realism blind spots for me as compared to the CM battlefield. GTOS has a few nice touches, but isn't what I'm looking for (too much like a 3D version of Close Combat).

RO2/RS is fun so far. It is very arcade in many ways, but my expectations are in line with what it is. I'm just using it for a little first-person adrenaline as an occastional break from CM, offline in Classic mode with a full crew of bots. I can already feel the interest fading, though.

Dose Iron front still work i do own this but thought this game was dead? I know there is a Iron Front mod for Arma 3. So what is close combat like towards Combat Mission? I know its 2D but is it a good game?

Yeah RO2 is a good game i would say realistic shooter as there is not many out there. As you have games like Call of Duty that is really arcade. I did like that First call of duty which was a great game for its time

Well, if you have a human opponent, give it a try.

The variety is HUGE, compared to what computer games offer. But they need a certain, eh, resolution. You need to be willing to read through rule books (between 20 and 200 pages), be willing to spend weekends to learn the mechanics. But THEN! There's nothing better than watching your opponent crumble and throw dice through the room. Or feel the frustration when things go wrong for you...

Yeah seems a bit like warhammer? do you paint the tanks ect? i think this would be to much for me as i grew up with video games.

I do study ww2 alot i have a massive collection of books, Divisions Histories some rare first edition books. Reference books on SS camo and uniforms. Ironcrosses  all sorts of diffrent books on ww2 and DVDs. im sure most of you guys do also.

    all close combat games microsoft/matrix

I did see these games but not not buy as the graphics are so old and dont look very good. What are the games like to Combat mission?

Uh, not sure if this is obvious (re Ironcross13's comment), but all the games mentioned in this thread are computer wargames not cardboard wargames.

If you want to discuss cardboard wargames, there are literally thousands of high quality cardboard wargames available from a surprisingly healthy bunch of companies.  I must have over 1,000 cardboard wargames stocked up in my nuclear bunker for when the "collapse of financial system and life as we know it" happens.  And I stopped collecting board wargames when I discovered CM1 back 1998/1999!

Yeah sound like fun but could never get any one to play lol hard to get a online game these days.

also guys what do yous think of War Thunder on realist mode? it can be a very good game and its free. Has quite realistic armor Pen its nothing like World of Tanks

Not heard of Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa, Command Ops 2, or  Tigers Unleashed.

    Are they good games

Now, THAT's a question! Playing board games since 40 years.

Computerwise, it's indeed only CM for me. But if I would have the time and patience, I would be hooked to board game adaptions. Erwin's Gary Grigsbys proposal is a good starting point. You'll find lot's of this "hard core stuff" on the Matrix Games site. But mind you: That's low graphics, low action, numbers crunching, table reading stuff.

Never played a WW2 board game i do read alot of WW2 books

Yeah ive downloaded loads of mods to make the game and inf/tanks look better some great mods out there. Also some missions.

I am still learning how to play seem to struggle with clearing towns and villages can be hard. I do like to play as the Germans the most as i like the Tanks and the Waffen SS Camo.

  9. Hey guys im new here. but i come from games like Men of War Assault squad 2 and red orchestra 2. Also i like War Thunder realistic mode i have played that alot. these are the games i played before finding this great game. This is so realistic really got me hooked.

Now i own all CMBN packs CMRT CMFB in the space of a month i have played CMBN the most and a little of CMRT im saving CMFB till i get bored

And bonus Panther question: How come my panthers survive shots that deflect down from the mantlet into the hull (the infamous "shot trap"), while they get penetrated from shots that hit the mantlet straight on?

I thought it was the other way around - panther being strong on the mantlet front but weak against shots that deflect down?

Shooting a .50 cal at a Panther is pretty pointless. I do know the russians did try to knock out the Tigers and Panther Gun optics as that's all they could do sometimes as the armors was so strong. once the Gun Optics is gone the Tanks no longer combat ready and needs repairs.

Really could a .50cal really shoot through the back of the Panther? did this ever happen in real life combat?

Welcome IronCross13. If you have not seen the thread below, it is what the community is mostly going off. There is a lot of good stuff ahead for CM.

    http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120172-brief-overview-of-where-cm-is-headed/

Thanks glad to be here. thats some info i was looking for. helped he alot

Looking forward to it all. i don't own CMFI so i could get that next once im finished with CMBN CMRT CMFB

  12. I watched a few to start me off as i could not get the game i played the tutorial but will no hope lol. I learn about the high ground and how to scout the battlefield from his videos and i picked it up as i played read bits of the manual and googled stuff i did not know. Tooks me a while to realise i could shoot through hedgerows. This game has a steep learning curve but im used to games that do as i came from playing Men Of war Assault Squad 2 online battles that's not a easy game to play also a good WW2 game for smaller battles and some good mods make its tank combat more realistic.

I think i am not a bad player and been winning battles best win was this (PIC) Hard battle lost many Panzer IVs in that battle

I just think the game needs more publicity as its a hard game to find

  13. Yeah i use a SSD with all my games. I play CM games in 4K my monitor resolution even if i change to the game settins res its something less then 1080p looks crap i still get the same frame rates so i play in 4K and it looks great i must say I done alot of testing to see if i could get high FPS.

I play with AA off as not needed on a 32inch 4K IPS monitor. A Titan X and i7 4770k with 2 500gb SSDs and 16GB Ram. I would say SSDs are worth it loads windows fast and other games. I think it would help with this game. As my Titan X gets about 30% use on CM games when i monitor it so a powerful GPU will not help.

I would like to know if the CPU helps better then a GPU for this game.

If i zoom in on troops or a small group of tanks and troops i get 60fps, but if i look right across a big map can get big drops to 20-30fps and moves up and down as i move the camera. Still very playable as its not a FPS so no need for 60fps

But i would go for a SSD and use it for windows and your favorite games you wont be disappointed

OK, If you're new my apologies I should have said "Welcome aboard". Because BFC are a small company catering to a limited sized market they don't release a set number of titles per year. And they don't tend to go in for releasing them for the Christmas market (or at any other specific time of the year) unlike some of the big boys. To the best of my knowledge there are plans to take the Eastern, Western and Italian Fronts up to the end of the war. Although no release date has been set as yet. And for some of us slower players there is more than enough content to keep us going for ages.

Yeah im new Thanks. Yeah i know they are only small it a hard game to find or hear of online hopefully this will change in the future and more people will find it. As i myself have always been looking for this type of game. also it seems to have very good graphics i do play in 4K and looks very clean.

No no release dates just ready when it is.

  15. I do have my whole steam library installed on my C drive not under Program files as i was told a long time a go it can cause problems.

But seems Battle for normandy has installed fully under docs/myname/battlefront

when Red Storm and Final Biltz has installed in C/programfiles(x86)/battle front. But my mod folders are in docs with the battle for normandy

I have had no problem with any of the games and have alot of mods installed

Just to clarify.. It is Red Thunder not "Storm".

As for time frame I go by the rule, "Whenever it arrives it will have been worth the wait."

    Ahh yeah my mistake.

Yeah im sure it will just wondered if the Devs give a time frame on release? Or how long before its release is it announced?

Im new here so just asking questions on how these great games are released

  17. Hi Thanks for the help well seems i put the SS file inside a tank mod folder so i was getting a mix of camos my fault lol.

I searched all files in my mod folder and found it took it out and now it's fixed.

    I know my camos ;) Oakleaf A,B Plane Tree 1-6 M44-dot

will there be SS added to RS? also when will we get more battle packs/ campaigns?
