  1. Codreanu meant the To Berlin campaign, played from the Soviet side... Any tips on that one?
  2. I just got Fire and Rubble and just took a peak at the first scenario of the To Berlin campaign. Looks very manageable... Any tips? Bring recon and infantry up into the tree line first and carefully bring up the armor? The 88 makes me nervous but I have a lot of tanks...
  3. Thanks. A little hazy but it will make more sense the more I play. For indirect fire, should I keep a unit with a radio by the mortars? That blog looks excellent!
  4. I may restart Devil's Descent. Anyone have tips on this one? Seems like the first scenario or two are easy, then it gets, well, Devilishly difficult. I'll be doing okay and then have a unit get devastated by a machine gun.
  5. Can anyone offer a few basic tips on mortars? I can generally use them but sometimes I don't have line of sight or they are out of range of my spotters. I know spotters and leaders can call them in and I assume they need to have line of sight to intended target. Do I need to keep a unit with a radio by the mortars also so they can speak to the spotters? Sometimes it feels like I need one. Other times it seems like I don't. ??? How close should I keep the mortars to my advancing troops?
  6. I started Rollbahn D. Played first battle and got a total victory, but a bit reckless. Feel like I could have taken fewer casualties. Probably replay it. Good suggestion!
  7. It's funny you mention Trouble with Siegfried, because I was just trying that today. I know I'm rushing into it too quickly because I'm taking a lot of losses. I need to apply some suppression fire pronto. Any tips? Muddy Affair looks good too...
  8. Not exactly the responses I expected but really good advice and suggestions. So to rephrase, what are some good LARGE scenarios y'all can recommend - LOL!
  9. I have all the CM WW II games and expansion modules. I've watched some tutorial videos and done all the tutorial missions. I feel like I'm a bit stuck in second gear, with success in some scenarios while doing terrible in others. For example I started the Devil's Descent Campaign - I did okay in the first scenarios or two and just got butchered in the next few... I feel like I did okay in the tutorial missions - even the last ones where the manual doesn't hold your hand as much. What are some good short scenarios to practice and perfect tactics?
  10. Got a total victory on the first scenario of Road to Montebourg but second scenario is much tougher. Playing second scenario of Devil's Descent. Two German units (a panzerschreck and MG) are broken yet won't surrender in the building on the western objective, thus not allowing me to take the objective, no matter how many times I try to assault the room they are in or target them... Bug? Any tips on this scenario? Lost 12 men which seems like a lot, and that was after retrying it...
  11. I see that Usually Hapless has videos on this campaign. He's great. I love how his videos are succinct and well edited and don't make me sit through 46 hours of "Let's Play" style game play.
  12. The Allied campaign in FB looks pretty interesting too. I might give that a go...
  13. I have all of the WW II CM games and DLCs except Fire and Rubble... I've completed all of the tutorial campaigns. I may do Devil's Descent next, though I do like more combined arms including tanks and larger arty... What are the best WW II campaigns for a noob? Looking for something smaller and easier... I enjoy all theaters...
  14. Should I roll in with the strykers or demounted? Should demounted troops grab anti tank guns from the stryker? Just a few of my many noob questions
  15. I'm playing through the first scenario of Task Force Thunder campaign a second time. I know this should be relatively easy, but well, noob here... I'm eliminating the mines with the mortars then sending the Abrams out. They are pretty tough so I'm sending them out to battle the Syrian tanks and other units. In the meantime I've put some of my smaller units and machine gun units up on the berm to scout and fire. I also put up my eyes in the sky to scout. I'm keeping the larger rifle units in the strykers to attack later. Should I be using them now? I plan on hitting everything hard with arty as I take out tanks and other units with the Abrams. Then moving in later with the larger units and strykers. I know I SHOULDN'T assault the buildings - took major losses last time. I know the strykers are pretty vulnerable to the anti tank units. When do I bring them out? How do I use them and where do I position them? Do I need to have units equip themselves with the anti tank weapons for them to use them? In general am I using the units right? I played through all the tutorials, though I feel like I suddenly forgot everything LOL! What are the best scenarios to learn the game? I have all the DLC...
  16. A lot of armor vs. armor (I like the T34 - what can I say?) But in playing a small infantry versus infantry battle last night, I realized I had a lot to learn in terms of tactics.
  17. Enjoying learning the game by playing tiny, 30 minute Quick Battles. Anyone recommend any good setups?
