  1. My video is crap production value and I should be fired as director but the mod itself is the star. :D

I agree that the mod and indeed the game itself is the star! I enjoyed your vid and the main difference between yours and mine is I spent a wholly unjustifiable amount of time editing it:rolleyes:. Like me I suspect you do it for the enjoyment rather than the hope of an oscar so keep up the good work and keep sharing.:D

  2. Loved every minute of that last video. Especially the background music, which fades away after a while, only the resume at the end. And your use of captions. Not only their placement on-screen, so as not to obscure the visual detail. But also their content, giving us a human interest story that draws us in. By the end of the scenario, we know the players. We ride the emotional roller coaster with them.

I've never attempted to produce a video. But I am curious. How long would it have taken to you to produce this 30-minute video from start to finish?

It can be quite labour intensive, depending on how much you want to polish it. 'The Old' soldier took about a week to put together and then edit. What takes up a lot of time before you get to that part is continually recording the same turn from different angles so that you have enough material to put a story together. So, if the scenario takes an hour, you can times that by however many times you record that turn. Then you have to play that footage back to pick out the bits you want. That usually takes me a couple of days or three.

Saying that, it's by far, a lot easier than it looks. The story suggests itself thanks to the immersive nature of the CM games, specially if you replay them and get close in. During the replay you see lots of things ou missed the first time round.

    I record it on Bandicam

Import it into MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2014 but there are lots of other programs you can use.

To upload it, I compress it first with a program called Handbrake.

What makes it easy to do, is the fact that it can be so enjoyable nad you REALLY get the juice out of any scenario you are playing.

    Give it a go  :D

  3. Paul, George...this is Ringo. Has anyone seen John?

Seriously though, we shouldn't be advertising the natural/national treasure that is Skye. Let it be our little secret.

Incidentally, have either of you hiked in The Cuillins or seen The Old Man of Storr...up close?

    Hi Paul

Aye I'm just down the road south of Inverness. Plockton is a grand wee place set amongst some very impressive scenery. Skye is also worth a visit. I've spent more time up on the mountains in the Highlands than down in the glens so I don't often see how great it is at sea level a lot of the time! I'm planning on heading up that way tomorrow to stretch my legs and bag a few Munros.

    Cheery!

    George

I agree Ringo. It should be kept a secret. i only discovered the Kyle because I went for a funeral... not mine...obviously. Before we went to Plockton i told everyone we were heading for Trumpton which put them off the trail. I've not hiked but i did the little trek over to the Lighthouse at Neast Point. Not a long way admittedly, at least not from the car park   but far enough on the day. The rain was horizontal blowing in one ear and out the other.  :D. Skye itself is amazing. i wanted to see the settlement where, so i am told, some of the veterans from the battle of Waterloo settled but time forbade it. Am hoping to go back next year. Enjoy your Munros George... whatever they are  :P

  4. new video

Damn. :( I was just about to post a vid of this battle and find you've done one already. :P  Looks like we tried a different approach (as the Germans) but both still got beaten. It looks like you have some mods going on in there too. Do you know what they are?  :D

Here's my version of TANKOVYI DESANT. It's a bit of a slow starter but hopefully the end is worth it. I also didn't put in a story line thinking on this occasion it was best left to the viewer. Another thing I left out was the music as some people commented on YOUTUBE they couldn't view it due to some issues with copyright in the country they were living in. Hope you enjoy it.   :D

  5. Hi, it is me again I would like to post my second CM:BN video. I've bought the commonwealth module yesterday so I've used some british armor in this video. I've removed the hum, tried to get a better Frame rate and (tried) to shorten the shots. (BTW I'm aware that in real life tanks usually don't attack by themselves.)

HI BlueNoobs. Glad to see you're still making vids. I've got the commonwealth module myself and really like it. You HAVE shortened the shots which definitely makes this more interesting for me and gives it a better pace, I think it is an improvement on the first one for sure. One thing I like is to use the zoom function to get really close to the action. My Favorite shot is at the one minute mark beside the burning German tank because it gives me the feeling of being there, on the ground. The frame rate issue??? I had a problem with that at one point and it turned out I needed to defrag my comp and I also noticed the fans that keep it cool were all dusty. I unplugged everything and VERY carefully vacuumed away the dust. It might help but as I say... BE CAREFUL :P   So... nice one mate, glad your working on and thanks for sharing all your effort.  :D

  6. Wow, outstanding video. The computer "reenactment" segments in those WWII documentaries need to use CM as their engine.

High praise indeed. I'm quite surprised that we don't see more of the engine in documentaries. It would be great for explaining tactics. Seeing what advances CM made from the original game when it came out way back, I can't wait to see what the future holds for tactical wargaming like this. I'm sure it would be a great traing tool as well for the army. I think they already use a game called Steel Beasts to teach about the principles of armoured warfare.
