  1. Hi everyone recently bought red thunder and installed reshade, I'd love to record some video possibly make a movie of ww2 and at time it looks that good.   Seems though that myrillis action or badicam won't record the shaders, the videos are missing all the lovely details.   Same with screens, what are you guys using to record video or screens that include the injectors from reshade?

  2. Hello everyone, is it the case there are really only 17 maps for download for Red Thunder or am just looking in the wrong place under the repository?   Seems when I checked months ago there were more, maybe I'm mistaken.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  3. I guess I was looking more for some insight in to the thinking of the commanders back at WW2 times.   Again knowing the situations and people varied, what the was the overall picture from the US and German side regarding losses in a single battle.  Was it we have to take that hill at all cost if it cost us 90% of our men or was it live to fight another day, I know the Russians would shoot their own soldiers for not fighting to the death, maybe the Germans did too.   Guess I'm trying to get some concept on how they thought so that I can tailor my own expectations while playing the game.

  4. Someone who knows much more about ww2 than me hopefully can answer this, but what did USA and Germans consider acceptable losses during some of these battles in ww2.   Can't help but feel I'm losing too many men each mission and at least to me it above acceptable but I wondered how that translated in to the thinking during ww2 at Sergeant or equivalents German ranks in general as I understand every situation and commander would be different. Any insight appreciated.

  5. Just reading this post and I decided to go back through the game and give it some serious effort this time around instead of just poking around and doing skirmishes.   Started with  Courage and Fortitude  and completely destroyed to the core on campaign 2.   Can't get across the bridge no matter what I try early game (no issues with bugs ...  just an issue with the player I assume) .

Glad to see it was mentioned as one of the harder ones cause I was getting discouraged.   I did play through and very much enjoyed task force ruff, so going to try the suggested campaigns above first.

  6. Thanks for the additional replies everyone, maybe you guys should lobby Battlefront to put everything back under one general forum for the 3.x series and bring everyone back together, although I suspect that would be hard to swallow for some.   Yes I can tell you as someone fairly new to this series when you go to the forums and you don't see a lot going on it put a tick in the negative columns when deciding to buy a game.

  7. John I'm a lurker I read the forums from time to time but don't post much, I have seen the people kind of group together around certain products in my time. I guess it has it's upside and downsides.   You are right compared to your story I should be thankful I can play when time permits, it does sound frustrating to have the time but not the ability to do everything you would want when the mood strikes,  sorry to hear that.

^ Thanks John, I thought I bought FI a while back but turns out I bought Normandy, although I enjoy it I don't much care for the hedgerows but really love the units and combat putside of those restricted hedgerow maps. So was looking at Fortress Italy+GL or RT next just wondered if one was visually upgraded over the other in any way.,  Leaning towards FI as RT seems a little to big and open but it sure looks cool.

I do agree though after applying the 3.0 patch to Normandy it looked a lot better stock but that version number of  2.20 had me going around in circles until I found a post stating that was actually 3.0 .  If graphics between FI and RT are about equal though I'm leaning heavily in the FI camp at this time

  9. Can't find info regarding this question.  Which game is "better", i realize they cover different time periods and have different theaters but with cmfb being the newer game are the gameplay / graphics improved?   I saw there was a spring mod for cmfb, does that make the maps as wide open and green as cmrt?

It appears cmrt has more mods/maps/and scenarios available, does the mod support favor cmrt?  How do you determine which one to get if only buying one at this time?  Yes also tried the demos.

  10. ^ got it thank you both, enjoying the demos, seems to be a toss up between the Normandy package and Red Thunder to start out with.  On a side note battlefront or whoever decided to put demos out there gets some added bonus points with me as a consumer, demos are slowly becoming a thing of the past especially in these niche strategy games/sims.

  11. ASL yes that makes sense, I think some procedural trees outside the map border would go a long way but as they say it is what it is.   I just tried the demos for red thunder and black sea, must say I prefer the ww2 stuff more than the modern scene, but I find I'm having performance issues in red thunder, none in black sea.   Tried the few tips I found in the troubleshooting section for red thunders and while turning shadows off helped slightly it's still pretty jerky, I'v got a pretty beefy machine and since black sea runs OK I don't think it's my hardware.    After playing the demo the outside border is not as bad as It looked in the videos, I'm sure like Barbaric mentioned you don't even notice it after a while.   In regards to the custom maps, no don't take that away that looks like one of the huge selling points of the game :)

That said ... I know black sea is a more recent game, did they update the code to make it run better than red thunder?   The demo version of red thunder is 1.0, did they improve performance in the full game/patches possibly?   I see the allure of the game after playing the demo, it looks like there many way to approach the same situation and tactics really do make a difference.   Thanks guys.

  12. Sorry guys I don't exactly know how to search for this question, but I don't see it answered.   I think I have some interest in combat mission games but watching videos I notice that the edges of the map or when viewing the playing area zoomed out there's a plain grassy green border around all the playing area, frankly it looks like it would kill immersion for me.   Is there a setting or mod that changes the border around the map to make it more immersible?  Thanks

I'll also ask is Red Thunder the best for WW2 stuff (best game play/graphics) and Black Sea for modern combat?  Or better to start with a different title?
