I apologize ahead of time as this is probably not the correct place to post this comment. I have not been on the site in awhile but I noticed a sell going on so I got the games and modules I have been missing. Thanks to who ever made this decision.

Reading this forum can become exhausting. Just keep up the great work and all will be right with the world. You continue to make (IMHO) the best tactical war game for PC's. It is sort of like Squad Leader with all the burden of play-ability removed. Thanks for all of your effort and hard work at maintaining this level of complexity and reality. You will always have my gratitude (and money) for what you have achieved.
The devil is in the details.

I heartily agree with you all on the GREAT AAR that have been produced by the above mentioned and put on YouTube for our enjoyment. They are overwhelmingly the reason that I now own and enjoy Combat Mission games. But please do not forget ChrisND, a great and seemingly prolific AAR posters. If they never post again I shall always be indebted to them for their enlightenment into the nuances of Combat Mission which in their way have made the game so much more enjoyable.
PS: also least we no forget the teachings of Bil Hardenberge.

Thanks much for all your effort and hard work. Much appreciated.

IMHO these games are AWESOME. If I had a Shelby Cobra I would just drive the hell out of it and never complain about the tune ups

Thanks for posting this information. What specifically does "improves navigation" refer to.

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours. And a happy holiday to all. Looking forward to a glorious New Year for Battlefront and all the wonderful folks on this forum. Be save, peace to all and to all a good night.

What is this strange fixation with Korea, are we lobbying for a Combat Mission release
-
Along with Combat Mission it appears from my last post I also need to upgrade my auto-carrot

My therapist explain this problem for me at my last session after having experienced this pixeltruppen behavior while playing a Battle for Normandy scenario in Combat Mission v 4.0.
The fight-or-flight response (also called hyperarousal, or the acute stress response) is a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event, attach, or threat to survival. This response is recognized as the first stage of the "general adaptation syndrome" that regulates stress responses among pixeltruppen.
From that session I derived that a fix may or may not be to my liking. Ahhh Combat Mission is a lot like go to therapy, there probably will never be a real fix and I will just keep coming back for more.
Be happy that this game even exist and just play on. Life is too short and this is not a dress rehearsal.
-
Ooooh real life, can we also model the effect of amphedamines, cafffine, and perhaps some hooch. Shouldn't be too hard to code or is it already coded in V4 as the erractic behavior of some pixeltruppen.
-
What's the big deal. Old guard, new guard, your opinion, my opinion. V 4 is better than V 3, V 6 will be better than V 5 and so on. Fun's a poppin', just play the bloody game, life is to short as it is.

Spoofed me on this one. From the title thought I would find some good Combat Mission game info/technique on examples/methods that I could use on those rascally pixeltruppen.

Thanks the for the praise above guys.
When I started there was really no one doing a dedicated channel for Combat Mission videos. (And certainly not in 1080p!) I looked at the many Total War channels out there and decided to copy that type of format "Let's Play" format. Just with the added bonus of me saying "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no..." and then cursing my pixeltruppen.
Probably now is the the best time to say it but anyone who follows my channel knows it's been dying a slow death over the past 12 months. Building a house and getting promoted at work means I've got less time then ever to dedicate to the channel. Having some more time designing scenarios would be great. Then there's the Australian 'Kangaroo Internet' issue. It takes anywhere between 8 - 12 hours to upload each of my AAR episodes at my new place. I may be able to get a connection upgrade later this year which might help, but in short Australian internet is garbage.
I have committed to finish the current Aachen campaign (from the excellent work of @benpark), but after that I may just upload little 'Action Moments' when something awesome occurs. If this is the end, well at least I know there's a new generation of excellent CM YouTubers to take the torch and I know for a fact (from comments and PM's I've received over the years) this little community grew a little bigger because of the channel, which can't be a bad thing.

I've had this bug very occasionally. Although it's a bug, it feels oddly realistic.
When it does happen to me IIRC it seems to be when different groups move through the same action spot at the same time, sort of like a traffic jam. When it finally gets sorted out some guys are missing from their unit. But as Freyberg mentions it sort of adds to the game. I like to just go with to see what happens.

Howdy John K.
I would consider myself to be a newbie and I do not understand this - / + post voting rating system. Is there any place on the forum that explains it"s intent or purpose. I have posted a few times but do not consider what others may think of my views or opinions when I create a post. I do try to not offend but the world is a varied place with many views. I can not remember if I have ever voted, up or down. It seems if someone is too off track they are vanquished anyway (which is probably a good thing). Just keep putting it out there and have a good time. Life is short enough as it is, as a famous man once said “don't sweat the thunder showers”

A little new at this posting thing. Forgot to mention name of the game although might be shelf evident from the link, "Stavelot", at the time of this posting I believe they are around 20th turn.

Howdy,
Just wanted to post a heads up on a great AAR going on over at Usually Hapless YouTube channel. He is playing against General Sir Anthony, two very accomplished players in a PBEM turn by turn video. If you have not had the chance to watch this (thumbs up) I would highly recommend it. For a novice like myself this is like a classroom exercise on how to play this game, for more experienced player it has much to offer in suspense and just plan old entertainment. Being a minute by minute posting there is a lot of technique and strategy that is explained in each video. A great credit to both the players and the game. When finished this should become a required viewing for anyone interested in learning how this game works with all of its rich and varied game play features.
I will stop now as this is beginning to sound like a fanboy ranting. Go see for yourself.

Hi guys
Even if i watch the forum every week, i don't find the need to post. I play all the games since the first CMBO and i still like it after all those years. Today i just found a channel on youtube that can be interesting especially for new players. It's called
G.I. History Handbook
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFwP2RKKNYv7o8DJwYO9KxA
there are only 3 videos but i think they are very well made. I don't know if that was allready mentioned on the forum but i think it was great to share the link.
There is another reason why i decided to talk about those videos. On the video about infantry tactics there is an indication of the practical range of BAR automatic rifles.
With the last uppdate of the game, BAR and Bren have been limited to less than 200 m in automatic fire. I know that this was allready mentionned on another thread but i don't know if
Battlefront answered to it, if it's a bug or not. I think this totally cripples allied infantry. German squads can use lmgs at 600 m or more and have an unrealistic advantage i think.
On the vidéo, it is indicated that lmg can be used on groups of men from 500 to 1 000 yards, 400 to 900 m. Rifles are used at about 400 m . In the vidéo it's at minute 10 and after.
I guess that for the Bren, it was more or less the same. I don't think that at long distance, those weapons shoot only single shot, especially at groups of men. I just hope that this can
be changed in futur patch.
I hope that people will enjoy the link and that the maker of the video will keep is very good job. I wish there was something like this for other nations.
best regards
Furinkazan
Thanks Furinkazan for posting this link. Most excellent stuff, especially for newbie like me. I would recommend this site to everyone.

I really enjoy browsing this forum, it's like two treat's in one. Both informative and amusing.

Hi folks, this is my first post on the forum, not a veteran by any stretch of the imagination but I do truly enjoy the Combat Mission family of strategy games. Hammer's Flank was fun to play, The first scenario seemed to be fairly straight forward, maneuver against dug in defenses by penning and out flanking. Do not understand this Jason persons ranting (which is probably a good thing) and thanks to the Sgt. for creating this nice exercise. I realize this is an old post but just now reading it. Please keep up the hard work of making scenarios and campaigns for me to play.
Again
Thanks Sgt.
