  1. I've ran some tests and uploaded a video showing how effective it is to sneak up infantry to a tank with the intention of destroying it with only grenades.

So far it seems to me that it's not a very good tactic since the infantry end up getting killed almost every time.

Here's a video showing 10 attempts of infantry sneaking up on a Panther G (early) (skill: Veteran, Motivation: Normal, Leadership: +1, Fitness: Fit) using the "slow" command in extra tall grass:

The panther only gets destroyed once.

I might try this on different terrain later with different skill, motivation, and leadership levels.

Does anyone have any tips on how to destroy tanks when you only have grenades?

One thing I noticed for the first time is that the Panther uses a grenade launcher when infantry get close. I never knew they had that!

  2. 23. I got into CM from stumbling upon and watching CMSF video AARs on YouTube. I wish I had heard of Combat Mission before that. I now have all CMx2 games except CMA. I started playing the tank sim Panzer Elite fervently when I was 10 years old! Played that for years. Then I got into the helicopter gunship sim called Enemy Engaged and played that for many more years. More of my favorites were Jane's WWII Fighters, Jane's Fleet Command, Blitzkrieg, and Steel Beasts. I really love playing sims hehe.

  3. There are thousands if not millions of excellent examples of this with other games on youtube. Some of my favorites being exhaustively done for Europa Universalis III, Hearts of Iron, and Crusader Kinds II.

These are excellent ways to learn the game, get strategy insight, and marketing tools.

Couldn't agree with you more. I would never have gotten into any of those Paradox Entertainment games you listed without those great "Let's Play" videos. They give you so much insight into the game and how you can play it. I sometimes end up watching the beginning of a EU3 game to the very end (sometimes a hundred videos put together) because it's so engrossing to watch.

  4. Hey Wolfseven, I watched your video and noticed when you gave your squads the "pop smoke" command that you were dragging the purple line in the direction were you wanted them to throw it. I thought the only way to control the direction they throw the smoke was with the "face" command lol. I just learned something new from that thanks, although I'm still not sure how exactly you did it, (still learning the ropes after 1 1/2 years lol) it looks convenient.

You should rename your video and put "CMBN" in the front of the name, that way it will show up when people search "CMBN" in youtube. I tried searching for your video but couldn't find it.

  6. Well, I try to follow the style Tanit always did and just record myself playing the battle then afterwards commentating the whole battle. That way you can explain what your doing in the battle to the viewers as they watch. It makes the presentation a lot more effective and the movie much more fun to watch. You can commentate with text in the video or with your own voice if you have a mic.

In order to achieve this though you need video editing software, like Sony Movie Studio (what I use)

    http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/moviestudio

    or Windows movie maker

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34

These are free to download and there are a lot of other ones too.

You can really touch up your videos with this software. It might be hard to get used to using at first, but they do come with helpfull tutorials.

You also could just upload some gameplay videos showing some tense action or pivitol moments in a battle without commentating which is pretty easy to do.

Here is my youtube channel with the videos I've made so far:

  7. I think if players would take some time and make some more gameplay videos/ AARs that it would not only make available more footage for potentially new players to watch, it would also be a fun thing to see and comment on for everyone that likes to watch them (like me).

I was hooked by combat mission YouTube AARs and gameplay videos and bought the whole CMx2 series. I was also surprised I didn't know that these combat mission games existed.

    Anyway, make more please, Thanks!

My favorite YouTube contributer of combat mission AARs is a user named Tanit

    http://m.youtube.com/user/tanit

He made several walkthroughs of the different campaigns in CMSF. Very fun to watch.
