  1. I`m a Newbie as well. I`ve had the game a while but only really just started to get "into" it. I think I did things the wrong way round - attempted "Courage and Fortitude" straight away, after a little dip into the demo - NOT a good idea! Then moved onto "The Scottish Highway", a little better, but again not ideal when your just starting out. After getting very frustrated at my tactical and strategic inability I left the game alone for a while. Then after reading the forums, and specifically how this Campaign was a good one to begin with, I tried again, and I have to say what a good decision that was. The fact that you only have to mainly deal with infantry, and you haven`t got allsorts going on all over the map, leading me to confusion, has helped me enormously to understand how to manoeuver, and look after my troops. I finished that campaign and am currently playing "Road to Montebourg", which seems to be a nice progression from "Devils Descent", and I`m really enjoying myself.

    So thanks very much to the designers - your efforts are much appreciated :)

    Cheers

  2. Hiya Guys

    I was hoping you might be able to help me please. I`m playing the "Road to Montebourg" (2nd mission I think), and I am trying to get my Pioneers and Engineers to blast a way through the Steel X`s (not sure what the proper terminology is!!) road block so I can get my tanks moving down the road. But Im having no success at all. I can get them to blast through bocage and walls etc. but not these things - is it possible, or do I need to find another route for my tanks?

    Cheers

  3. I have looked all through the forums, and perhaps i have missed it, but i have failed to find a proper explanation of the combat details icons and abreviations that appear when you scroll over a potential target. For instance:

    Atkr=2 Dfdr=1

    +45%(-35%)

    SA=5 SD=4(+4DB)

    There is also a little tank icon and a river icon. Ok, I have been playing this game for a while now knowing that the top line of the combat predictions are really the ones that matter, predicting losses for both attacker and defender. What exactly are the 2nd and 3rd lines telling me? I understand what the river icon means, but the tank?

    I am sorry if these questions have already been explained, and thank you for your help!

    I have wondered this for quite a while also :)

    Cheers

  4. You know what...

    I'm rather tempted to change a few of the upcoming audio files for the British troops to quotes from 'Dad's Army' and 'It ain't half hot mum!' and possibly 'Allo Allo!'.

    It would be great to see a platoon charge into enemy positions, shouting 'They don't like it up 'em!'

    ... or maybe it's just a weird fancy of mine.

    LOL............

  5. Hiya Guys

    I`m new to this game and have been reading lots of threads, and watching lots of videos whilst running through the tutorial missions. One thing I have read on a number of occassions is people saying they "selected" area fire for their tanks. Is there another option, apart form area fire, and if so what is it, and how do you select it?

  6. Does everyone understand the definitions and rules around a "primary" and "secondary" supply source? Do we understand how "capital status" changes those definitions? Lastly, as far as the supply recovery ability of supply sources, do we see how the Allied or Axis net(inter) connection differs from the smaller (intra) linkage of supply sources?

    It's all pretty simple, after all I am a simpleton, but if anyone needs clarification or can propose a scenario not covered by these rules, we need to hash this out.:confused:

    Hiya SeaMonkey, if you dont mind I would like clarification on these points. I`m understanding quite a bit more thanks to this thread, the manual, and obviously playing the game, but an explanation of these points would really help, if you don`t mind.

    Cheers

  7. Hiya Guys

    Happy New Year to you all, lets hope its a good one :)

    Im trying to work out how supply works, and I`m struggling with it. So I have a couple of questions if you dont mind.

    i) Some of my units aren`t attached to a HQ - can I attach them, and if so how?

    ii) I see the HQ can be given a setting of manual - what does this mean/do?

    iii) Are HQ`s more effective if placed in a town, so they have the advantage of moving supplies along roads, as oppose to being placed in the middle of nowhere?

    iv) Does the terrain (eg mountains, rivers etc.) between the HQ and the unit play a part in the supply of that unit?

    Thanks gentlemen.

    Cheers
