think of it this way.
its going to one of the best ww1 games out there and you wont have to learn a totally different game system.

ive read john mosiers myth of the great war. i disagreed with some of his conclusions, but i agree it is a good read. one thing i really did agree with him on is how much the usa's contribution to the final struggle has been diminished in most historys of the war. he also has couple of books about ww2 that are worth reading.
i also recommend keegans history of ww1, it goes a long way in explaining why trench warfare happened. paddy griffiths book on british army tactics 1917 18 is also very informative.

I think stupidity knows no international boundaries
Yesterday our (Canadian) Minister of National Defense was in California. During a conversation with ex-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, he commented on the "common border between California and British Columbia". I guess Washington and Oregon don't count any more
maybe california annexed them when nobody was looking. i wonder if Schwarzenegger called for an Anschluss. :eek:

in real life, as well in any GC games ive played where im the allies invading japan, the japanses dont stand a chance of getting their massive army in china back to the home islands because of the massive naval superiority the americans have by the time they're ready to attack the home islands.
if i recall correctly, in real life the japanese had a million or more men stuck in china while the home islands were under threat of invasion. the japanese could of really used those men at home to repell the expected american attack. unfortunately they had no chance of getting them there because of american blockade.
i guess the ai should at least make the attempt, but if your a competent allied player, the attempt will be in vain.

this might be a stupid question, but did you extract both the folder and the CGN file from the RAR before placing them in the games campaigns folder?
if not, go get winrar here http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=winrar&platformSelect=Windows&tag=srch%3Ba&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows&filter=platform%3DWindows its free and use it to extract the folder and file from the rar.

thanks for the info.
while i haven't noticed this problem yet in my game , i'll be sure to make the changes you suggest in the next one.
of course i have no idea how to use the map editor, but i can probably figure it out.

ive been playing nups mod and following your posts. so far ive not experianced any problems with the loops failing. of course ive only used the pacfic ones so far and those only a few times, but as i said, no problems yet.
btw, im really enjoying the mod. i think the map is first class. unfortunately my 7+ year old computer doesn't care for it much. the AI takes about an hour to do its turn. i usually just watch tv or read while it runs.

this may be a dumb question, but isn't there supposed to be a folder to go along with this file?
you see i don't have this mod yet, so i also need the folder that goes with it and it doesn't seem to be available at the repository.

ive been a long time board wargamer since the late 60's, (yes im THAT old). im new to the SC series and i'd just like to say how much im enjoying GC.
it was exactly the kind of game i was looking for.
ive just finished my 1st 39 campaign and even though i made lots of mistakes playing as allied, i must say i had a great time. i even managed to get germany to surrender before the end of 46. japan was a tougher nut to crack and i was only able to occupy the northern half before the game ended. heck at one point it seemed like i was using the atomic bombs drops as tactical nukes.
that game was on medium difficulty, but im starting a new one on the hard setting. eventually i hope to get up to speed enough to try some pbem games against some of you.

USA in general had a very insignificant role in the ground war in WW1 in general. The marines may have been a significant role in USA's insignificant part in WW1. So that is one reason why marines should not be included in SC WW1.
while the usa's role in ww1 may not be as significant as say france, britains or russia's, i would hardly call 2 million troops in france by the end of 1918 insignificant.

theres more to a tank unit than just tanks that need motorization, so they can keep up with the tanks.
iirc at one point panzer divsions in russia were having to relay on horse transport because so many trucks were broke down. that'll put a crimp in any blitzkrieg.
