im using windows XP, can u only do that on windows 7 ?

ok ive recentley been hooked on trying to make a tow2 movie. I was wondering if any 1 could tell me why the quality of the clips i capture with fraps, that i then import in 2 windows movie maker end up looking very poor quality/res etc after being put together as 1 movie? windows media players plays them in brilliant quality,individual ? ive tryd checking the options but havent found anything usefull. i understand fraps can be laggy but im curious about the quality of the video. any help would be great
