  1. After Having just finished as the german side and while I loved the maps, I was quite disapointed that most of the missions were basically the same. Assault trench 1 move onto trench two. Repel tank counter attack. finish :(

    The mini mission with just a handful of inf was great. Its a pity that there wasn't more variation like this.

    Does your final score actually effect anything in the following missions?

  2. When trying to target with more than 1 unit, the cursor always says that the unit can fire, even if neither can. Very difficult trying to get your mortars to fire on a target. You click and think they have moved their fire to your new selection, but they just keep on pummeling their old targets.

  3. In the manual, maybe you have the explanation:

    Note that a gunner calculates the shell trajectory for the currently

    loaded shell and you cannot reload the gun without firing it first. So if a howitzer is not already loaded with a high-explosive shell,

    it won’t be able to fire a high arc and will have to first fire a grazing

    shot at a target in line of sight (e.g. by means of Area Fire), before you

    can manually change the shell type to high-explosive (and you should

    in fact do that BEFORE firing the old ammo, see Vehicle Information

    Panel).

    so the hummel will fire indirect?

  4. The game usually runs well for me (frame rate etc), but can occasionally crash randomly during a mission (which can suck if I haven't saved it recently). It appears to crash after I've click or pressed a button (ie moving the map and trying to rotate map and select a unit) at the same time. Not a complaint as such, more of a heads up. (I am running tow2 in XP on a macbook pro under bootcamp)

    p.s It would be great if the game autosaved after a mission objective had been cleared.

  5. I've ditched the mortars for howitzers for the same reason, but they are harder to protect from airattack. I have a field battery of 4 howitzers with a backup of AA and an inf platoon.

    I agree smoke is important, I haven't worked out to use it efficiently yet. I wish tanks could use their smoke grenades tho, I wouldn't loose so many tanks then.

    I'm starting to get the hang of infantry as well and am not loosing them all in the first 5 min anymore. I think people are loosing inf. all the time not because of bad AI, but because the little buggers require alot of micromanagement. (maybe that IS bad AI). Anyway it is do-able

  6. this mission is hard, did alright but then lost most of my tanks in the counter attack.

    tips: the smoke is Very important in this mission. use it to cover your initial charge up the flank.

    use infantry to man captured guns, and pummel the hell out of those hidden tanks. they are hard to find but not impossible.

    I've traded my morters in for inf guns. I now have 4 inf guns parked behind a hill to offer indirect fire support.
