  1. Thanks for the info and I completely understand the strong desire to support the developers. Still might be the way I go if I decide to purchase. However, still wondering if the patches, DRM, licensing, etc. is the same between the versions. I am thinking the patching process might be the same since generally a digital game, but could be wrong. I certainly don't want to be in a position of a new patch coming out and not being able to use it:(

  2. Just curious, is there any real difference between buying this game from Gamersgate vs Battlefront? Is the DRM the same? Is the license code an actual Battefront code? Are released patches usable on Gamersgate? etc.

I mostly prefer to use Gamersgate since that is where I have bought most of my games, but want to make sure there are no limitations.

    Thanks!

  3. a white flag pops up if anyone surrenders.

Also, its best to check what status your squad is showing. They might be rattled or broken. Troops aren't the automatons they were in CMX1. I found they them to be a bit more fragile now and not fond of moving to their deaths.

Thank you. I did not see any white flags and both my units were in good shape according to their status.....mystery continues :)

  4. Just got done playing one of the scenarios. There was a German unit standing in front of some bocage. They weren't firing, so I assume they were out of ammo. They were standing up so also assuming not cowering. I ordered two units to attack this german unit. Both units seemingly get within a few yards of the german unit and basically lay down in front of them. Didn't fire a shot. Both units had grenades and plenty of ammo. There is no doubt they spotted the enemy since they were close and the enemy was visible. Both unit status was fine, not cowering or anything like that.

Any reasons as to why they wouldn't destroy that unit, especially since that unit only had 3 guys left?

  5. Did you install the game to your program directory? I have found that several programs and games work better if you install to a different directory.

I tried all locations :) I tried both my own document directory, the admin's document directory, and also the program directory. All installs had the same results. To be honest, I am baffled as to why admin mode corrected it for me. But their is no doubt it did. If I take it off, I get the old issues again. With it on, everything works perfectly. Go figure :)

  6. I agree if it's not broke don't fix it.

I have a ticket in to the Battlefront helpdesk so I'll see what they have to say.

It's kind of a show stopper for me at this point so if necessary I'll change vid cards,

Thanks for the help Grim. :)

No problem and if you ever figure it out, please post what the issue was. With the strangeness, I may end up seeing this at some point too, although right now it is working for me :)

Maybe in the full game release something is different and will be ok....keeping the fingers crossed.

  7. It was a nice try but no, the run as Admin didn't work either.

I think there's something diabolical going on here.

Myles, give the Alt-S (turn on and off sound) a try and let me know if that works.

I have this sneaky suspicion it's the 4850.

That's too bad...I would agree though, seems to be a lot of strangeness with ATI and Win 7/64 bit going on. I am even using an older card than you which is the HD 3870. Some day I will have to spring for an updated ATI card, but to be honest with all the games I play, this card continues to do well. Once I got this game to work, performance and graphics were decent for me.

  8. Grim, how do I change the game to run as admin? I don't see that as one of the options.

I did upgrade the drivers to 11.5.

Before that the game would freeze when hitting the Alt-T. Now it just sits there (like a duck hit on the head as Lincoln once put it about a General not taking advantage of a situation).

Mikey, the T key does back up the camera angle. so it's not that.

Got me guys, stuff makes me nuts.

Outside of the game, go to the game icon on your desktop. Right click and go to properties. Go to the comapability tab and down at the bottom go to change settings for all. In that screen there will be a checkbox to turn it on.

I also believe you can do it for a one time by selecting the game icon, right click and one of the menu options is to run as admin. That will only lats that session though. The other method makes it stay. Good luck.

  9. Yep, tried both Alt's.

Even went out and bought a new keyboard.

The Alt-T and S work fine with CM1 so it can't be that the machine doesn't recognize the key strokes.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the demo several times.

Could it be the ATI card.

I've heard so many bad things.

Things work fine on my brothers machine and he has the exact same HP desktop except he has an NVidia.

I know this might sound strange, but I have an ATI card that I was having issues with the mouse, plus I could not even do the key strokes of ALT+Q. To correct the issue, I changed the game to run as "admin" and now everything seems to work. Might be worth a shot. Also, make sure you have the latest 11.5 drivers, it corrected the issue of the demo not ending properly.

  10. I had a mouse driver issue way back in CMSF. Every time the cursor would change when mousing over a unit the entire screen went black. It was a mouse driver issue. Check your mouse drivers.

That was a different machine then I'm using now. Working fine on this machine.

Actually recently just received the newest driver through windows update. Mouse works fine in other programs and even within the menus of the game, just not in gameplay. Strange it works in admin mode though. Regardless, at least I have a work around for now.

  11. I have a Logitec Mx Revolution and have had some issues since installing the demo. Sometime the hotkeys I have tied to the buttons work when I load the game, and sometimes they don’t. I hope it will not be an isuue with final release. I have grown very accustomed to using extra programmable keys with navigating the game.

I am using a standard microsoft mouse and saw issues as well. However, ever since I started running the game in admin mode, haven't seen an issue. You may want to try that.

  12. I see. Thanks for the reply.

So, yes, I have an ATI Radeon HD 5800 card. Does that mean I can't play CMBN? :( That would make me very sad.

I had a specific issue with Win 7 64 and ATI where the game did some strange things in gameplay with the mouse. Basically, I couldn't do any clicking and couldn't scroll. As a last grasp to fixing it, I changed it so the game "runs as admin" and since then I have not had a single problem. To set this option you have to right click on your game icon and turn the feature on within the compatability tab. Not sure if this will correct your issue since it was different than mine, but worth a shot if you haven't done so. Also, make sure you are using the latest 11.5 drivers from ATI since that also cleared up a problem when ending the demo.
