So, pz4 is using pg39, APHE. The round landed in the bocage, the bursting charge went off about one second after round would have buried itself. So, casualties 3 meters and 11 meters, really? Find it hard to believe. Know it was AP because AP count went down one count. Can pg40, (AP solid shot, a better penetrator), be selected by scenario designer?

Had a short 60mm mortar round land 55 meters from infantry with heads in the dirt and took a casualty; really? Find it hard to believe.

I canceled their advance and quick’d back to machine-gun. At the end of the next turn, they did re-join the machine-gun.

Halftrack was plotted from, actually just left of the arrow. The only no entry tile is marked by the red box. The whole area to the left and above the red box show’d to be plot-able. I have tried short-long reverse plots and plots back to the rear; the halftrack aborts all attempts to get it out of there, seems to now be impaled on the trees.

    Got stuck in the mud............

  2. "..tech doesn't fail...", gps is very easy to jam, surprised it hasn't happened yet.

ait at fort sill, ft lewis wa, then ansbach germany.

whenever there was a cold inversion over ft lewis, the range was shut down. seems 8 inch artillary would break windows in nearby tacoma.

so, did you get to play with FADAC (field artillary digital (?) computer). 500 pounds of computer, what pain; at least it did work.

  3. So, do you remember, was it call an INS (inertial navigation system) or IMU (inertial measurement (or mapping) unit)? little early for GPS, i think.

army has done away with surveying or just in NG units? if so thats scary.....

Jag4 would not fire on the house. Moved the jag4 forward 5 meters and tried again; still wouldn’t shoot. Target’d a piece of ground in front and no problem shooting that. Tried doing ‘light’ targeting the house and that worked. BTW: behind the tree in the middle is another house and another jag4 had no problem in putting rounds into it. And no, duh, didn’t think to try that jag4.

Mortar team, after 2 turns, still hasn’t popped it’s smoke grenade. At the start of each turn, pushed the ‘pop smoke’ command. This is the end of a turn.

Noticed that men and mortar were separated, but still a unit, i.e. mortar was not abandoned and plotted a target for it. Once targeted, during the turn, two men starting running to the mortar and one in the opposite direction. Then the two seemed to start work on the mortar and the single guy seemed to be working on the mortar as well. And then:

    GVBUR.jpg

The mortar, teleported to the other position and then all three men started running again; the two to the new position, the one to the old position. They kept this bouncing from site to site for several turns; (didn’t noticed it, busy elsewhere). I cleared the target and did a short move to a new position. That worked, brought everyone back together and could now resume targeting. I believe I may know what happened or at least where it may have started. The mortar teams was under a ‘quick’ order and at the start of a new turn, were around 30 meters from their plotted position and were very tired; but some of the team was already at the plotted position. So i canceled the rest of the move and put them under a ‘hide’ order, to let them rest. On the next turn, I noticed the mortar its' self was in one position and the crew were huddled together in another, but the mortar was not showing as being abandoned. So I plotted a target and the above started.

  5. forgot also to mention, panther crew totally recovered, 15 seconds after the last round hit.

if 'top rear' means engine compartment; maybe(!)(?) siffo's find has got me wondering about this stuff. I have 'one' source that say's american 105mm he has 45mm penetration at 90 degrees and 14 tons of lift.

i parked a panther next to some hidden troops and it was barraged by grenades; and become immobilized. I have heard (legend?), that a well place grenade would break a track. I always wondered if a grenade could do that. a 60mm mortar is just an over grown grenade. to break a track, 'I' would believe it would have to hit it.

  6. "..current passengers" , except when the driver is part of the unit, then the only command that works is 'dismount' and one can't move them until after dismounting. unless i'm missing something?

"...only one vehicle...", i'm accually expanding that to any unit that could aquire.

"Sub menus don't seem to be very popular with the UI designers.". yea, i get the same feeling.

  7. "this is done between battles in campaigns", but with no player input, correct? during a game, thought it would be nice to be able to attach one unit to another, to fill in slots and for ease of movement. I would have thought RT players would like that.

i'm just saying, if, for what ever reason, you have a loner/leftover/separated section, say bar and 5 rifles, tatics could say, bar a two rifles provide base/covering fire, while other 2 rifles assualt the position.
