  1. Seems nobody noticed the 'probably' in my post. I wanted CMFB to be the game that got me playing CM again. I had hoped that it would introduce either something new, or improve some aspects of the game that I find frustrating. I have supported Battlefront over the years (CMBO, BB, AK, Shock force + 2 modules, CMBFN plus CW, CMFI plus GL).

i think it's useful to say why your 'probably' not going to buy a product, as it IS useful data for the devs.

Oh and Warts n all, I really did have look at my posting history.

I'll probably leave it at that as I don't want to get in any trouble!

  2. Steve, your explanation of how's things are hinges on the best use of ATGs, in CM, is in prepared positions, you go on to say that re-enactors swivelling a gun is an unrealistic example, because in real life, for instance, the ground would be uneven - there would be logs/boulders in the way to inhibit the rotation of the gun. Well, in a prepared position (your preferred location for a gun in CM) surely there we be no such obstacles, because the position has, well, been prepared........

I'm glad you're looking at this, I'm not expecting miracles - but some change is needed.

  3. No comments from the devs then............... I'd like to see some improvements too.

I think the comments re not being able to reverse the guns and not being able to move the guns without having to wait 4 minutes are fair criticisms of the game as it stands right now. Improvements in this area would be nice.

So how about a comment from Steve: are you totally happy with ATGs as they are at the moment and see no need for improvements, or are they somewhere on a to do list.......... Inquiring minds need to know ;))

  4. For me - decals don't add any functionality, so would be way down my list, fire first, please! Actually fire is above tank riders too.

Surely fire would have to added, before the "packs" come out.......... otherwise the packs won't include any of the flame vehicles/units in them. In order for upgrading version 3 backwards to CMFI/BN, surely fire, would already be in the game.......... well that's the way I see it anyway. Fire is such a big bone, i'm sure they're saving it up for later, in order to "fan the flames" a little more........... either that, Or Steve, put us out of our misery now, and confirm it's not in the game........

  5. Firstly - it's great news that CMBN will be upgradeable to the new 2.0 engine. From my understanding - we will have to purchase the new engine upgrade for CMBN before Market Garden? This is a price sensitive issue for me - I'm glad to hear that Steve has said the upgrade will cost less that $55 - I'm hoping it will be something like $25 (or less :D) - in my view the combined cost of the 2.0 upgrade and Market Garden should, ideally, be less that buying the full game i.e. CMBN. I appreciate the workload involved - and obviously you guys need to earn a living!! If the cost is too steep - I may duck out of upgrading CMBN...... presumably in the future we will be paying to upgrade several titles..... so the costs will start to spiral -

As for multi player - na - not interested.

  6. From my experience I agree hide + cover arc is not good. I thought it was in my limited use first in CMSF in single player. I found out otherwise the hard way. My very first PBEM I had to set an ambush and tried hide + arc and, it was a disaster! Short cover arcs give good concealment + better reaction times, and spotting ability alone rather than with hide. Giving a slow move the last few meters usually sets them prone for the ambush. From there set the arc, and you should have an effective ambush in spotting, and firing first. TERRAIN concealment has much to do with success. Many the time I have had guys in buildings with very small arcs, and was not spotted till enemy moved in to the arc.

That's an awful lot of micromanagement !! - an ambush command would streamline things - i think CMBN suffers from far too much micromanagement - which for me reduces the enjoyment of the game.

  7. I don't think "covered arc" + "hide" works very well for an ambush - troops that are hiding don't spot too well. It's mainly a problem in WEGO (which i only play) - where you have to wait a whole minute, in a situation where the enemy moves into a units covered arc, but isn't spotted (because your men are hiding, and have reduced spotting) - before you can unhide them a fire, by which time it may be too late, it's compounded by the fact that you can't check LOS - because this is measured from your still hiding unit :( I believe this is because WEGO is RT with pauses, and is therefore a limitation of the engine - hope I'm wrong!!! Ambush is therefore needed.
