just for knowledge, the ESET defines the exe file (both 1.20v marine patch and british pack) as:
"a variant of win32/statik application.
-
SOLVED.
it's the ESET security suite that quarantined parts
of the files that were recognized as malware.
the thing is that ESET doesn't pop up a message
notifying the user that the files is under arrest.
only when i checked the ESET event log, i noticed that.
-
i did try the "run as...." option. same result.
about the 1.10 patch, the marine module is installed, so it has the
1.11 patch already.
-
Ha! Elmar speaks the truth - the Brits module is already patched to 1.20 so no need to install the 1.20 patch as a seperate item. Check the read me notes that come with the downloads and double check what you are doing is as per the instrcutions.
Another point - your base game is a BFC version and not another version?
thank for the help.
i've downloaded and freshly installed the base game, marine module (so far it works, no prob).
but the british pack give me the message.
i just noted that the same thing happends to the 1.20 patch over the marine
pack. same error code.
it doesn't matter if the base game is BT's or gamersgate. the module works for any version:
"These patches are only for you if you own *both* CMSF (any version) *and* BRITISH FORCES. These patches patch BOTH the base game AND the module at the same time, you do NOT need any separate base game patch"
so, after downloading and installing twice, still that error. both for the british pack and for the 1.20v patch.
i can't even play the marines H2H cause everybody is 1.20 patched.
anybody else here with windows 7 (rc) experience that problem?
-
update.
reinstalling the BASE GAME and the MARINES module, same problem.
"setup files are corrupted" for both 1.20 patch and the british module.
-
i get this message when launching the british pack setup.
of course the download was the problem,
but i suspect that something else is wrong.
i have freshly installed the base game + the marine pack,
didn't add any patches yet.
the game work, but again, the brits pack won't install.
i tried different compatibility modes - no success.
OS: Windows 7 (rc) 32 bit
processor: Athlon X2 2 (250).
any ideas?

i've just installded CMSF base (gamersgate) and the Marine pack.
didn't patch it yet.
in the site i have two different instruction:
"This v1.20 patch requires that you have a working copy of Combat Mission Shock Force with the Marines Module addon already installed on your computer AND already patched up to v1.10 (or v1.11)."
and a bit afterwards:
"This v1.20Marines patch is the ONLY patch you need to update your Module and the base game to v1.20. You do not need to install the base game patch separately. This v1.20 Marines patch updates the base game automatically!"
so.... do i need to patch v.110 or v.1.11 first or just the 1.20v????
btw, i get "file is corrupted" when trying to patch 1.20v.
-
i tried the 9.9 with windows 7 and radeon 4200 (integrated gpu).
still this OPENGL crash issue. so i'll wait with the brits....
another symptom is that the mouse cursor is floating over smoke and
can't be pointed smoothly and accurately.

i think that an IDF pack is more realistic than NATO forces.
CMSF is loyal to weapon systems, army and units formation
and etc'. why won't the game be loyal to the reality in terms
of region conflicts?
maybe it relates to marketing issues, but in term of
reality, it makes much sense.
(this discarding the stupid reference of IDF and civilians).

hi there,
i'm working on a scenario where i need a "blue" spy
along the US army. technically, how do i do that?
i couldn't find a way to purchase a "blue" uncon, though
i seen a couple of scenarios that used this option.
any help?
thanks

Well obviously it is the wrong footage. Next time before accusing someone of "just reading the headlines" make sure you have at least read the right ones too.
this incident or not, the point is that they are shooting from populated places so the civilians will be a human shield.
this is the point. they did it then and they do it now.
it is pointless using specific footage or another. the claim is that they fire from schools, hospital and etc. it's well known.
but don't let the facts confuse you.you already have an opinion.
-
So, you think the official IDF channel is more reliable than a neutral source like UN or Red Cross. Now, that's the definition of irony. Did you believe this guy as well??
UN and Red Cross have not confirmed "Hamas fighters carrying babies". They have however confirmed IDF killing civilians after rounding them up in a "safe" building. So, I read the headlines while you just talking bs. You have to try much better than providing an official propaganda channel link.
what's the propaganda? this is the UN school in gaza, and there is the launcher. that's why they published it.
so what do you say? the hamas is being careful not to shoot from populated areas? LOTS OF LAUGHS.
there is no clean war. and mistakes do happen. but the hamas is using their population as a shield. i'm not happy with civilians get killed but you can't shoot and run the to the church.
you want to believe it's propaganda. live with it.
i don't have to prove anything, you have the footage. believe in what you want to believe.
-
Some call it immersion but I prefer the game to be a bit disconnected from bloody ongoing conflicts. Its like having fun the day of a funeral. But the most disturbing is the nature of this particular conflict. I've been a soldier but soldiers also know that deliberately killing civilians (as UN and Red Cross have already accused the IDF) is not what army teaches you. Extracting some meaningless tactical situations from this lop sided slaughter, this particular moment, lies almost on the edge of irony.
you just drag me into this....
irony is when hamas make a UN school a place where he shoots rockets to the southern border of israel. irony is that the main hospital of gaza is the HQ and
an ammunitaion warehouse for the hamas. irony is when the hamas takes the humanitarian supply brought from the israeli side of the border and sell it to he's own people after he took he's share. irony is then hamas " warriors" are running with baby's in their hand so they won't be fired at. you just read the headlines don't you.
anyway, for some footage, there is an IDF youtube channel where you can see video's from the combat's. (notice video #4 "HAMAS shooting from UN...."

or - online intelligence.
that what UAV's do very effectively.

just finished the scenario in a draw. so a few words...
****spoiler****
a great scenrario indeed. tough i don't think you can win it in first play.
the enemy final assault is far stronger than you can handle with the tank platoon you have.
but really a good scenario, and very enjoyable.
thanks.

just patched the 1.11 version. and for some reason i got this e-license
windows asking for the license again. well, after i found it
eventually, the code doesn't work for some reason.
...i guess it works like car alarms..if you forget the code you're done, the thief just brake the switch with a screwdriver.
i hate that e-license.
but anybody else had to deal again with that e-license when patching?
-
a while ago i played a scenario but can't remember the name and can't find it.
all i remember is that it was USMC. a small platoon was holding a few buildings and was attacked by a armored infantry force + tanks coming from the trees .
a USMC reinforcement came from south, had a few (2-3 i think) TOW hammers and a 2-3 abrams + a platoon of infantry.
ring a bell?

nevermind. my bad

thanx john, it is nice to know there is such a book.
a quete from the study, added by the americans:"What made the critical difference was the IAF's (Israeli air force) constant retention of the anitiative
and it's clear superiority in leadership, organisation, tactical adroitness and adaptability".
anyhow, the records are 100 to none in the whole lebanon war.
this made syria to change the strategy, abandoning the air for ground to ground missle strategy, and a defensive approache.
jkobmadrid,In the biggest clash, 90 IAF fighters, with every advantage in the book including real time observation of Syrian takeoffs, against 60 Syrian fighters. Details are here in this excellent Rand analysis.

As for modding part - as is such coversion is not possible. All units in the game are hardcoded, so nothing can be really changed with exception of textures, unit voices, UI icons and other cosmetic alterations.

as a former IDF soldier ,i wonder about some issues in CMSF, that
makes the game feels not too realistic to me.
RPG and other AT weapons - the demage of an rpg shot
into a house can be very deadly. unlike CMSF, when you can
get 3-4 of these into a house without a demage
to infantry inside it. even psychologicly, it will have
a big effect.
Door to door combat - when doing this, infantry will throw graneds
into the room, than breach the door. in CMSF they just run in.
Mine clearing - minefields are cleared by a special missle, blasting
most of the mindfield.
Bridging - a special vehicle used to cross water canals and AT canals.
Evacuation - the case of wounded soldiers is a sagnificent
issue in a combat. sometimes a combat lasts hours just because
of the evac itself. i really think wounded soldiers must be evac
by a vehicle or a strecher and not just disapear. plus, wounded soldiers that arn't getting a medical help should die, and this must affect the score.
Apache - One of the afficent AT unit. has accurate
AT missles (8), and able to take a "picture" of the battle targets
and than destroy them safely when shooting behind a hill or mountain (without a direct LOF). in the game, the apache is for fireworks.
also, an helicopter isn't "coming around". and is able to give a constent
support in the battle field.

well, isn't it possible for mod designers to make a mod
of the abrahms for ex ,making it look like the israeli "merkava"?
i mean the specs will be the same but it will "look"
like a "merkava"? i see here color changes etc, isn't that the same.
-
I'm only playing CMSF, nor a designer or anything,
but i really think that an israeli army should be in this game.
Israel is fighting for years agains syria and the hizbulla gerilla supported
by iran and syria. in 2006 summer israeli launched a big operation agains
hizbulla in lebanon on the northern israeli border.
the idf has it's own israel's made tanks (merkava mk I,II,III,IIII), and other
vehicles and systems. ("gil" for ex, AT missle like the javelin).
i don't know if it;s possible to add tanks and vehicles to CMSF,
but if someone is interesting, i can give all the information needed, incl' spec, pics, units and modes of operation.
is it possible?
