that's look great on plains, but these sand waves look weird on abrupt/steeply terrain. Could you make waves smaller?

LOL
Thanks RuhrRiver

You can do that just narrowing this flag with MS Paint, in example.
But this could make difficult to differentiate primary and secondary flags, if national flags retain their shape

looks simmilar, I found it by doing a search in google images for "sand texture"

-No delayed orders based on unit experience- No Movement to Contact command
- No hull down command
- Hunt command now stops and cancels order
- initial lack of ability to chain key commands
- inability to hide at end of move
- Broken replays not showing actual ammo and crew status
- no ability to combine hide and arc commands for ambushes
- No TCP/IP for WEGO
- PBEM broken for a while and even now still having issues
- Lack of self preservation for light vehicles especially
¿nobody misses that? I love trying to manage effectively those green buttoned T34 tanks

I reinstalled CMAK & CMSF last weekend after two years of abstinence, now I am really shocked, what an incredible gameplay. Look that smart defending AI. Your soldiers doing what they should do (even when is obeying orders). There are thousands of tactical options in every moment...
Note this quote from the CMAK manual (page 76):
"Pauses are allowed only at the beginning of a turn, and you cannot order additional pauses in between waypoints or at a later time in a turn. This, again, would allow for too much micromanagement, more than any company or even platoon commander would ever have."

yes, but not enought yet

It has been said in other threads, don't want to start another discussion on the same topic, but say in short: CMx2 is designed to be played for RT, with WEGO as an additional feature build over RT, just a minute-pausable RTOriginally posted by Melnibone:What missed WEGO functionality are you talking about?
-I should watch and wait until the entire turn ends
-Terrain shows damage done at the start. You know who's going to die from the begining
-Ammo levels during repeat belong to the last moment
-Can't fast forward
-Can't babysit units while turn lasts. And this is mandatory now.
-Couldn't put my unit right where I want at the order phase (like hull down/follow vehicle)
-Delay time receiving orders depending on unit experience.
-Can't modify waypoints.
-Stacked orders don't work properly + want to hide at the end of the move
-Go to the striker/take ammo/return to combat is problematic.
-Load/unload units too.
Say even shortly: you suffer an awesome lack of control over everything compared to the previous games. And no, this is not the "good" lack of control coming from the chaos of war. And no, this is not because we are just control freaks which wants to control everything. It's the lack of control that just produce frustration.
Yeah, I know some of this problems will be fixed soon, is what I hope. but I'm afraid some of them that chronically afects WEGO play will never be...
BTW, sorry for my poor english level
PS: "in my opinion" precedes all said phrases

Because Battlefront has produced some of the best wargames out thereOriginally posted by Xraider:For all of its faults (or not) Battlefront has produced some of the best wargames out there (IMHO CMSF included). I don't get why there are so many people who continually rant on about CMSF. If you don't like the direction BFC has taken, why not go in another?
-
I mean, I'm not trying to convince you to go back to the CMx1 model. Just asking something that has a WEGO model as good as CMx1 has. Because right now, it is clear FOR EVERYBODY (in my opinion) that CMX2 WEGO is worse than CMx1.
And please, don't answer this trying to convince me to change to the RT model. If you want that I change my gameplay mode and you are sure that this is the way to go, you shouldn't have made WEGO in CMx2 (in my opinion). Because bad WEGO is worse than nothing...in my humble opinion.

Dear Battlefront. I guess...what if instead of battle with all this rants and grunts you try to restore the missed functionality WEGO has?
I mean, you have done that in three games before, I think it could be even less time consuming than the endless battles with old grognards you are going to have. You save time, grognards will be absolutely pleased with you forever and RT people continues with their joy. Everybody happy.

I think that theme has been deeply discussed but I can't resist...sorry, but, tastes apart, my idea of realism is not losing three tanks because I was trying to do a correct placement at the other side of the map...Originally posted by panzermartin:There is no comparison between CMSF and "other" RTS out there. RTS are a seperate category with specific resource management gameplay and they are more of a game than a pure wargame. They are designed to be fun and balanced, COH is a good example and pretty entertaining I must admit. CMSF RT is not here to compete with these games, they share nothing in common except that you order units as the action unfolds. RealTime doesnt mean I sold my sould to the devil to make some bucks. It IS a step forward to realism. Its the engine problems that hold it back right now and the modern setting that many arent used to.
RT games are designed to be simple handled because of a reason, I guess

I fully agree with the review.
In every review you read, you realise CMSF has been beaten...by its predecessors. Yeah, there are great improvements, but we have lost too much things.
Also, this game has treated the old WEGO Grognards as second class players, this is the real reason behind all the complains and cries.
But also, in every review you read, you see that very few mainstream RT players will like this game. This is a saturated marked with very good and fully oriented products
It seems BF has dig their own hole. I really hope they get out of there in the most logical way, I mean, adding all the wonderful lost CM flavours.

Thank you Pat. I took this last one to add a grid and some contrast in height
