  1. Hi all, Has anyone played any MP battles yet? I've been on the IP listing below: http://www.battlefront-newsletter.com/MPLobby/tabid/61/Default.aspx As yet haven't seen any IP addresses there, i've registered mine and it shows up fine but I start the game and prepare a battle and nobody joined (maybe my IP is not visible or accessible to people, no real way of knowing).. Are people using this method to find matches or are people going somewhere else, I think this game will be an absolute blast in MP!
  2. G - 17 S - 9 U - 12 P - 16 O - 17 This game has got a good feel to it, although there are things that need sorting out (sounds, interface, multiplayer, pathfinding). This game has grabbed my imagination and I can get round the annoyances, although I do hope there is a TOW2 or a much improved expansion in the future. This has filled a hole which other RTS titles just can't fill for me. Multiplayer lobby required, that is were the real fun can be had!
  3. i've got an amd, no issues whatsoever. I too had trouble getting into the game but like elvis says in earlier post I have now relaxed into it and i'm finding it much easier to play (although the missions are rather difficult at times, but that is a good thing). I would also agree with another comment in this thread that it is a bit of a 'puzzle game' In a sense it is, but tactics are important too. The pathfinding does suck, and non enterable buildings is something to be put up with without too much effort.. If I were to pick 3 things I wanted fixed the most in a patch I would say: 1) Pathfinding of vehicles 2) Multiplayer lobby(not {spit} Gamespy!) 3) sounds (getting a lot of muffled voices and queit gunfire... could be my pc) All in all though it is a good game for me, although i have to admit i'm thinking it's a step (a big one at that) in the right direction rather than something i'm going to go back to after a few weeks playing but you never know my enjoyment of the game is going up with every one I play. One other point, I think the campaigns could be more in depth e.g. german campaign, jumps from 1 mission n poland to 1 in france, then it's dunkirk, I was expecting a good 5 or 6 missions in poland... If I manage to get a multiplayer game and it proves stable I think this game will be a winner.
  4. woooohoooooo, just 2hr 50 mins to go, damn these us servers i'm only getting 180 kbs
  5. The thing with implementing buildings is that it will be very difficult, I think a post I once saw by Moon suggested this would be more likely a TOW 2 than an addon thing, so it's best forgotten about. I mean, how do you get your guy to the window you want? Where is the door? Is there a damage model for the building? If so, can that huge hole that a panzer has just blown in the side of the building be considered a door for troops to enter/exit? What colour are the curtains? In other words I think there are a lot of issues the devs would have to sort out for buildings to feature, yes we'd all like it but it ain't gonna happen unless there's a TOW 2 and that will only happen if people support TOW 1 and they make some cash out of us... so buy it!
  6. why can't I tell my troops to use spells and buy new outfits?
  7. i'd agree to all those mentioned, there's also battleplan which is worth a look if you haven't seen it before. Not sure if I can have my forum privileges stripped for mentioning something which has nothing to do with war but the planet earth series is stunning. I'm kind of sick of watching ww2 docs now cause I think there is only so much you can watch and i'm struggling to get any new info out of them now! Unfortunately I wasted many hours as a student devouring the ww2 history section in the library when I should have been working towards my degree (hmmm... maybe I should have read history...)
  8. well, in my earlier post I said I didn't mind waiting a little longer, but i've just seen the sound and fury vid on gamershell.. I WANT IT NOW,and i'm going to hold my breath and stamp my feet until I get it! I also said in my earlier post: 'lets just hope that when the game comes I actually enjoy it as much as I think i'm going to!' I revoke that remark, I will enjoy it going by that vid and if the modding tools are easy to use the game will have endless replayability, so I reckon we have a classic on our hands (i'm sure it will be copied by others too!)
  9. The only thing i'm disgruntled about is not getting the demo to tide me over. Whenever I have received a pre-release download it has been 24 hours before so thats what I expected here. If it is earlier than 24 hours then I will salute BF and inform my wife that I will not be available for DIY or 'snuggling' for several months a day earlier than expected! I think BF will take heart that grown men are actually upset over a 2 - 3 day wait for the game, thay must have done something right... lets just hope that when the game comes I actually enjoy it as much as I think i'm going to! Keep up the good work BF and get me a demo or pre-release whenever your ready...anytime in the next 5 minutes is fine by me
  10. kettenhund, i think i need to give you a game as soon as multiplayer is open so that my matildas can send you back wherever you came from.
  11. the demo would do me! I won't be expecting the release to be any earlier than the night before the general release date. I don't think begging is gonna make them release it any earlier :-( I think they must be scurrying around getting it all ready cause they haven't officially told us when the pre-release will be yet.
  12. How about a grand strategy element: moving large formations around on a map in turn based fashion (maybe simultaneous execution) and then jumping into the action in rts mode when formations meet, with an enphasis on supply. That would float my boat! but as most people have said here: as many extra pieces of equipment as possible such as flak 88, on map mortar, mines during deployment foxholes dense forest all good... i'd like to enter buildings too but that may be asking too much of the devs! I'm sure BF an IC will listen to peoples suggestions in threads like this... I wouldn't be surprised to find flak 88's in an early patch release. just my 2 (or is that 4)cents
  13. The anticipation is killing me, I may induce a coma because I can't stand the wait, somebody wake me when downloads or the demo open!
  14. Hi, Must say i'm surprised that i'm not among the oldest here (a mere pup at 32). Started Computer based wargaming about age 10 with operation Vulcan on the old spectrum, I remember buying it cause it had a tank on the front and didn't really understand what sort of game it was.. I'm glad I bought it I can tell you, i've enjoyed games like that ever since, I have particularly fond memories of the close combat series, i'm hoping i get the same feeling of immersion and tactical realism with TOW. I like the idea of the campaign. hopefully there will be an add on some day which includes a map based campaign element 'similair' to total war series... i love hearts of iron as well, I would kill to have the battles fought in a 3d rts environment! I usually find the AI in games abit unchallenging after a while so no doubt I will be receiving a sound thrashing off some of you online in the coming months. ps can I have the game now please!
