  1. We are working on the AMD multicore problem (it is when the performance does not change regardless of “Use 1 CPU”). We *seem* to have found what can cause it. As of current, we are unable to reproduce the issue. All of our machines work just fine with this option. So, before the actual fix, we need somebody with a multicore CPU, who has this problem, and who is willing to help. Here is what you have to do: 1) You must have administrator access rights. 2) Start TOW. 3) Open Task Manager, switch to Processes tab. 4) Find tow.exe process. 5) Right-click on the tow.exe and open “Set Affinity…” menu. A list of available processors appears (CPU 0, CPU 1, CPU 2, ...). Those used by TOW are checked. 6) Uncheck all the marks except the first one (doing this, we expect you to leave only the CPU 0, but who knows... that’s what we are trying to determine). 7) Press OK. That’s it. TOW is now using only 1 CPU INDEED. Switch to TOW, check the performance and post your info in this thread + your machine specs. SIO
  2. The problem might not be related to the AMD, but to the video. Let's check it - maybe you need more video card tuning, besides just the new drivers. Video tuning is described in the troubleshooting guide: http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html I would recommend doing those things first: --- Some people have been able to get their game to launch by adjusting their Antistrophic Filtering and Anti-Aliasing settings in their video card control panel to "Application Preference", please consult your video cards docs to learn how to do that. --- For people with Nvidia video cards, try setting the following options in the Nvidia Control Panel. Your results may vary so try them one at a time to judge if there is any difference. Set "Threaded Optimizations" to OFF Set "Extension Limit" to OFF Set "Triple Buffering" to ON Also, try to do other things described in the guide. SIO
  3. I'm afraid ToW won't run on this graphics, sorry.
  4. The game runs ok on video cards with shader 2.0 support. Namely, starting from GeForce 5700 up and ATI Radeon 9600 up. The game also works on GeForce 4600 Ti. The game DOES NOT work on Intel integrated graphics chipsets 915, 945 and up. There can be some problems with integrated graphics from ATI. We kindly suggest to download the latest drivers for your video cards, so that the game could run fine. Most of the bugs were related to the older driver versions.
  5. --- "Sometimes the crew changes positions..." The crew members change their seats depending on the situation, current command and members’ skills. If the crew is incomplete it also can change seats, especially in the battle. --- "I thought it might be the close range" Damage system is quite complex, and the hit does not always mean the vehicle gets broken. Ricochet is possible, shell normalization can destroy the shell, partial penetration, cut-through penetration (no significant damage taken) Also, the penetration depends on the distance and impact angle. It might be that no penetration occurred at this angle. --- "Sometimes the tanks fire with HE shells" Tank shoots the other tank using shells of AP-types. Only if you click on the HE ammo type, and lock the target for your tank (select it yourself) your tank continues shooting HE shells. --- "I awarded and promoted a few tankers..." That’s how the awards work now. --- "And finally, why can`t there be battles which lead through towns?" The current version of the engine does not allow a lot of buildings in the game area. That’s why we had to cut the city battles, and that’s why the Bastogne is so small.
  6. Midnight Warrior, Question 1. No. ToW can have problems running onboard graphics card. In general words, those cards usually are a step back from the nVidia/ATI cards (onboard manufacturers want to be on the safe side). Also, read customers reviews for the computer you've indicated. The first one (by Neal Moody) says you'd better not use the onboard card at all! Question 2. I don't know, check CMSF forum. Question 3. Check ToW recommended system requirements for the right graphics card. Hope that will help.
  7. For those of you who still have problems running the game in fullscreen, you may want to try the window mode. In the game installation folder, find the file ww.ini. Open it with any text editor (notepad will do). Find the following line in this file: window=(changeScreenRes=true,colourBits=32,depthBits=24,drawIfNotFocused=false,enableClose=false,enableResize=false,fullScreen=true,height=768,stencilBits=8,width=1024,posx=0,posy= 0) Change values changeScreenRes and fullScreen in it like this: window=(changeScreenRes=false,colourBits=32,depthBits=24,drawIfNotFocused=false,enableClose=false,enableResize=false,fullScreen=false,height=768,stencilBits=8,width=1024,posx=0,posy=0) You can also try to use only one value, changeScreenRes, set to false. Be careful to leave this line as single... do not accidentally split it in two. Thanks to Anka for this suggestion. Also, if you have ok screen, but your mouse moves as if it were "upside down": use the hardware / software mouse cursor switch in the Options / Video ToW menu. 8. #1 Have you tried playing demo version? The reason for this question is, that can separate a possible eLicense issue from a possible game issue. #2 To be on the safe side when you have problems, set your ToW graphics settings to minimum in towsetup. (Screen resolution should be 1024x768). #3 Run the game using administrator access rights. For those who run Vista32: try also right-click app launching (run as administrator), if you haven’t already. #4 Update your video drivers. Stop being lazy , go download and install the latest video driver. Many people reported that the game ran fine after they updated their video drivers. #5 The game starts, changes screen resolution and then crashes. This issue can indicate some problems with the codec. In that case, try renaming the file “title.avi” which is located in the game installation directory to some other name. Then try to launch the game. If it was the codec indeed, the game starts ok, but without the intro movie.
