  1. Yes I can play the mission as a stand-alone fine with no issues... I even re-made the mission from scratch cus the original mission was lagging badly, so I can't see why the mission would cause it directly. on the topic of the music, my comment was insincere (spelling) i apoligize... it was purely off the cuff and I'm not judging it harshly as its purely music that joins the main screen to the battle... plus its OST so thats always good to see. -Plus isn't BHD music done by Hans Zimmer? Hard act to follow! on topic... I'm on hols in france for over a week so I'll try and rectify the problems when i return
  2. Yeh I know its not syntax cus I had no errors and no (i knew i couldn't do this already) my first mission is not my core file... they're seperate. The fact its not common is likely why its never come up on this forum. What precisely happens. 1) finish mission 2 successfully (tried both winning and losing as they both lead you to the next mission anyway) 2) the game does the usually scenario/map loading progress bar with the weird music (yeh i like rock but this has no taste back on topic) 3) it displays my briefing (its blank cus I han't written it yet) but it loads the windows cursor not the in-game cursor, in my experience this means the game has crashed... I try to click anywhere on the screen and it reports the game has stopped working and closes returning me to the desktop (typical CTD) I can the main campaign fine... I've played other people's campaigns too. My Rig: Windows Vista Ultimate 32 SP1 AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 5200+ 2.69GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS Creative Soundblaster Audigy
  3. Hi all, Been trying to make a campaign for the past week but during my playtesting, my third mission keeps crashing at the briefing screen. simply, locks up and crashes to desktop. I've tried what I can see possible, recomplied multiple times, not done anything there I havn't done in the previous two missions... only difference is this is the first time units from a previous mission have reappeared (apart from the artillery which have been present in both the first two missions)... any ideas how, I can't find anyone having a similar problem on the forums... help much appreciated!
  4. Ok this is my first post and many will tell me to go away but whatever... ...anyway I cant help agree with the pro-modding group here. I've been modding for 7 or so years, ive worked with tons of engines including Operation Flashpoint, which was pretty much what got me REALY into the whole modding thing. As it turns out now I'm aiming to be a professional games artist, I'm doing a degree in Games Design. This is the main point now... our projects over the past year and this coming 3rd year is ... you guessed it... make a mod!! Games Companies are essentially looking for artists who have made assets that can be ported into games and even more so those that can show that they've done it. So my point is modding is basically where alot of young budding games artists, scripters, level designers and the rest start out. I would find it hard to believe that any of the development team didnt start out making mods for something. On the flip-side I can understand the need to protect your assets. I mean this company is small, it could even be called an indy company and I have massive respect for all they do when they have to go up against the giants of EA and alike. Its the small companies that deliver the niche market games like CM:SF that we crave. For me BFC are a major inspiration for me to go forward and try to do the same as I realy want to like so many other indy companies that have sprung up in recent times. Basically in conclusion I think the game should support moddability cus theres so many little things that scenario designers would like to put into their missions as well as artists who want to have their own stuff in there for variation. It would be better for the devs to work with the modding community otherwise the community will do its own thing and chew the game up themselves.
