So you agree, let's have no security. You guys are genius'. It's obvious you can't stop everything. Oh wait! That's right they attacked us by airplane again while I was sleeping the last 7 years. That does it let's put away security we certainly don't need it. While we are at it let's cut down all the fences around our military bases and send security home. It doesn't work. Peng and Zemke says so. </font>Originally posted by Joe Shaw:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by rammer4250:

I agree with Mr. Peng on this one. If a determined person really wants to do something, none of that security will matter. The attacker AWAYS has the initiative and will determine the time and place. No amount securty in the world can deter a determined attacker.

I am also having a great time playing this game.
I like playing the Al Huqf Engagemnet to test the infantry tactics. For the most part the infantry has been reacting the way they should. Once in awhile the soldiers (a squad) when ordered to move to a new building will run around to the front of the building. Luckily they weren't in the line of sight of the enemy so didn't get wasted. But I think that wouldn't happen with more micromanagement and splitting of the squad. That's why I still prefer WEGO. I feel you have much more control then trying to watch everywhere at the same time. And I like the playback feature so you can determine where the fire is coming from. With right tactics I usually don't have many (and sometimes none) casualties. I think this is the best modern game out there and I have played BCT and TACOPs. And this is with the bugs right now. I can only see it getting better.

So Peng, now that you know what I really believe, you, and your silly little thread (duh! geez! like I didn't see the connection between the obnoxious you and this ridiculous thread!), can truly go **** yourself (you are obviously in love).

Seanachai
You guys really crack me up. From reading all the posts it appears how much in love with yourselves you guys are. You have your opinions and that is well and good. As long as somebody agrees with your opinion or close to it they're OK. It's Ok if somebody rants on using foul language in a public place (like this forum) because he has to wait on line at an airport. It's OK if somebody talks about nuking our nation's capital (for the past two hundred years no less) and that's OK. You are right about the freedoms we have in this country. The right to speak out against anything is the ultimate of those freedoms. The insults you have tossed out about me shows just how intolerant you are of anybody elses opinion but your own. Speaking about the wearing away of freedoms, one freedom I will gladly give up is a fiery death as the airplane I am in is flown into a skyscraper or my nations capital even if it was caused by a simple instrument as a box cutter. Another is the right to see a skyline that I proposed to my wife in front of get erased in a day because we had a shorter wait time at the airport and the security was nothing. I will gladly surrender that freedom thank you very much. I will also give up the freedom to hunt for body parts at the bottom of a heap of steel and other building debris because a group of people enjoyed the freedom we had at the airport. Am I spreading fear? Am I a fear mongerer? Why do people have such a hard time believing there are people who want to do us in just because we are Americans? Why don't we just do away with security checkpoints at the airport altogether, then we could enjoy that freedom all over again. Peng, do you even know what a conservative believes? We believe in less government regulation not more. But interstate commerce and travel is definitely one of those areas the constitution gave the federal government authority over.
On the other hand the freedom I will not give up is the right to live my life the way I see fit. That includes smoking a cigarette if I want to (like outdoors). There are towns and cities enacting laws that ban smoking anywhere. there is also the trans fat ban enacted in NYC. If you think they are going to stop there you are seriously deranged. You think governments steal your freedoms in one large dose? No way, they erode a little at a time and they usually start out with those things that are allegedly for your own good or the good of the community. Do you think conservatives think like this? That they are the ones trying to take away your freedom? Not the conservatives I know. We want the least intrusion into our lives as possible. Somebody wants to take away my gas hog. Well, I don't drive one. I drive 4 cylinder vehicles. Not because some bull**** notion that I,m going to destroy the environment but because I like to use my money for other more enjoyable things than gasoline. I don't believe in taking away a company's right to earn profits either like Hillary wants to do to the oil companies.
And yes I use Democrat as an epithet. This is because of the so called leaders of that party. We are in a war right now whether anybody wants to believe it or not. Our soldiers right now are dying doing a mission they believe in and I support them 100%. That is not just lip service. When leaders go to a foreign nation and badmouth this nation to nations like Syria and Iran I have a problem with that. When these so called leaders want to throw in the towel just for political gain I have a problem with that. When these so called leaders give aid and comfort to the enemy through their free speech I have a problem with that. So yes I have a problem with the moral weakness of the Democrat party and I will use that word as an epithet any time I want. So be intolerant of me as long as you want to, I don't care.
And go ahead "make my day", come and try to take my gun away.

You know considering that i chose to jump into this cesspool I kinda regret it. I wished I would have dived into a real one. I probably would have found a better class of stink!!!

stammer1984 ... this is the CessPool sir, and while we grant a degree of relative freedom to the man for whom the thread is named such freedom is NOT made available to a Scum Sucking Newbie (SSN) such as yourself who hasn't even done us the courtesy of providing a general location in his profile.Originally posted by Joe Shaw:Please forgive me Mr Shaw. But as for the whiney little girl I believe he is radioactive waste in the cesspool. What happeened, did he get get his tiny weiner caught in his zipper? Sounds like he is capable of that.

I guess I agree with you about the pause. It is an arbitrary thing but I like the way it sought of simulates fog of war. It could have been 30 seconds or 2 minutes for what it matters. However I think modern combat is a mixture of slow and cautious and fast and violent. Slow and cautious until the enemy is located and then fast and violent to kill the located enemy. This is just conjecture but I feel most RT games lends itself to the mentality of speed without caution. The "rush" that some players use in RTS games is a perfect example of this mentality. Find, fix, flank and finish - find and fix is definitely the slow and cautionary part while flank and finish is the fast and violent part.
I guess it just boils down to what mode people prefer. I have played in RT mode and totally hate it even on a relatively small scenario like the first battle (I forgot the name) in the battle list. To keep track of everything you mostly have to keep clicking pause every five seconds anyway. I guess I just like the surprise factor of being out of control for a short period. It forces you to have discipline and use caution rather than rush in and have that instantaneous abilty to rescue your troops. I usually won't move until I'm sure the coast is pretty much clear and the enemy is indeed found and fixed.

"Aside from replaying, what is WEGO except realtime with arbitrary pauses? Only being allowed to issue orders every minute is unrealistic - a gimick that allows for PBEM, and that's just about it. I don't use PBEM, nor am I interested in replaying action."Originally posted by molotov_billy:WEGO is not just an arbitrary pause. In RT when you pause you still have full control over your troops. You can instantaneously keep them from doing something stupid (sometimes anyway). However in WEGO you have no control of your troops for a full 60 seconds. Now when you make a foolish plan like marching them out in the open without preliminary recon you pay the price by seeing them get gunned down. You can't stop them. Thus you must have a good plan and good tactics before you press the button to execute. I think WEGO simulates company and above combat well.
I think RT simulates cooperative play well. If there was such an animal? Is there? I guess from what I hear a faster play also. But I play these types of games for the tactics. And good tactics takes time. If I was in a rush to play then I suppose I would like RT.

It almost seems that when items are not aligned with the grid there are problems. Like buildings and ditches especially.
I played the first battle and no matter what movement command I used the squad stayed in the trench but moved according to the command. Move, assault, etc. They stayed in the ditch. The action points are also aligned with the ditch in this scenario.

I want to apologize for my last comment to you. I know you didn't say it stunk so I don't want to put words in your mouth.

I don't think this game stinks. I belive we still have WEGO. I don't really buy into the theory that the AI is dumber because of the RT implementation. The AI is dumb because all AI is dumb to a certain extent. Unitl the creation of the holodeck the only way to get human play is to play another human (of course there still are certain limitations).
And now my real opinion. Hi, my name is Ron, and I'm a Battlefront fanboy. Really, think about it. This game is magnitudes above what came before. And all done by what, one programmer. I own TACOPS, BCT but as far as I'm concerned Shock Force beats them hands down. Of course, the true grogs will like them more I think this game has it all. Well not all but alot. A reasonable AI experience, beautiful graphics for this type of game, a pretty much realistic weapon experience, a chance to use and experiment with real world tactics and no more 3 robot squads. And most of all a company who really believes in its creation and will try and improve it even more. Seriously this thing can only get better over time. I don't blame Battlefront for trying to make money while doing something they love. We benefit from it. I bought the program before all the patches but from it's history I knew (and still know) Battlefront will come through (only if they keep some sought of WEGO). If not Shock Force then the future modules. I find this game incredible. I feel the same about Falcon 4.
Please Battlefront don't ever get rid of WEGO. At least until you design a holodeck.
