  1. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how blockade works. In the editor I have added 4 blockade symbols around Malta and tried putting both Axis subs and surface ships on those tiles but nothing happens. In contrast if I put Allied warships outside Brest I get a report Allies blockade Brest and the supply of the port is reduced.

What am I doing wrong here?

    Regards

    Mike

You have to create a respective supply script event for those positions.

What I'm not sure now by quickly checking the script for 39 word at war what is the unit_id you need to use to allow for any unit to raid:

-help text say 22 but within the script 20 is in use for those spots.

I suspect it is a bug in current script and should be 22 for any unit now as more unit types we have... (also it explains why only sub can raid now UK Caribbean Oil)

  2. At the end of 43 Dragon is the winner of the final!

In short: My Japanese did it really well, only India is resisted to them, but the Russians melted the German army and now reached the border of Germany, meanwhile the Allies approaching Paris from the South.

In the other game Russia, China and UK will fall for sure I can only delay it for a little while, which cannot be offset by the good positions of my US in the Pacific as they are still years away from Tokyo.

Thanks for the game, it was really exciting, I believe I played better than any other match inside or outside of the tournament but it was not enough...

Also many thanks to Amadeus, and to all participants for this tournament, and I hope it was not the last one :)

  3. Finally the Russians giving up there push against Japan, there forces redeployed to Europe and facing with the Germans preparing to the next summer offensive. In India the advance is slowed down a bit as slow reconquering Manchuria drawing significant forces. But at least the positions are quite strong and the US air superiority over India is fading away as more Zero fighters deployed there.

As the US carriers operating in the Atlantic the Pacific is calm, expect some US amphibious transports around Hawaii waiting for the good weather to retake the first island.

There is a naval battle started next to east Africa with the 2nd Allied fleet meeting with the Japanese raiders.

Also in east Africa Italians and Germans retreating back to Cairo as heavy air and armored forces advancing step by step.

The main Allied fleet (lead by 4 UK and 2 US Carrier) operates around Gibraltar and eliminated the German and Italian ships which tried to prevent the Allied landings. As expected the sea battle was lost and Allied taken Madrid and the north part of Spain.

  4. If you really determined (investing some effort into it) you might succeed :)

e.g. if you find an adequate remote desktop application and you connect to your PC, another less likely working way to install an X86 emulator but those are a bit slow so might be SC1 can run on win98

Once on my Win6.5 phone I managed to play Axis and Allies PC version and it was not the best experience, so if you really want mobile SC warfare go for a sub-notebook or if you have internet coverage you can try an ipad with remote desktop to your home PC...

  5. Lost Hawaii for 2nd time? You didn't eliminate the Jap ground forces, completely, eh?

He landed with 3 units at DOW. I sacrificed 2 fighters to give enough time to my fleet to arrive. Unfortunately it was not enough. But only a few weeks Hawaii was on Japanese hand then the Navy freed it, eliminating 2 of the landing units and reducing to str2 the 3rd. At that moment my intel. reported an arriving new landing craft, and considering the Japanese ships having bigger guns (level3 vs level2), I had to redraw my ships for refitting, so I lost again the island. Now my navy returned and eliminated the Japanese completely from Hawaii, while significant part (almost half) of his navy kept busy eliminating Australian/UK commando units occupying an oil well, and a mine in East indies, to reduce the risk of the US operation around Hawaii. We will see in the next turn if we have the first naval battle in the pacific, as my forward scouts bumped into a German submarine west of Midway.

  6. Finally the Italian navy in action, answering to the elimination of the tactical bomber in Sudan (as usual my air force stuck in the desert storm and the UK ground and the naval fighters had a free flight) So the Italians (with some captured ships from Morocco) destroyed the UK carrier and 2 protecting ships.

And yes the invasion of Australia is started and Brisbane is captured.

Meanwhile Russian strike-force arrived to the Chinese border near Alma Ata to welcome the Japanese. The Japanese reaction was prompt, eliminating a corps and reducing the strength of an army by 75% in the first round. Will will see if the T43 is brave enough to answer to this provocation.

  7. The Japanese started the operation crescent moon in the far east which the Russians referring as operation sickle. In response operation hammer decimating the Japanese defenders :)

Meanwhile the diplomatic battle continues, US diplomats convinced Argentina to join the Allies. At least something to compensate the 2nd loss of Hawaii...

The Romanian and German forces were driven out of South Russia at least until Good weather arrives but in the North the Defenders of Leningrad starts hearing the sounds of the Panzer divisions.

The UK desperately tries to stop the Japanese in East Africa and in the east border of India.

The Chinese lost Chungking and all forces defending it, but surely the Japanese has not left enough forces to advance fast.

  8. After the fall of Alexandria the UK completely evacuated Egypt, and the Axis forces marching forward towards Sudan. UK and US tanks were deployed there earlier, we will see soon if they are ready to fight in east Africa.

The Japanese are started the expansion in the pacific, taking Nauru, Rabaul, Port Moresby, and also the Chinese occupation are going extremely well. The international press revealed a fragment of a mail from the Commander of the Allied forces itself :) reacting to the Japanese success several month ago: "Who need the Chinese?" So for sure the other Allied powers are preparing heavily to turn the tide elsewhere...

  9. The Axis advance is slowed a bit down in the Med, Malta resisted during the Summer but the continuous bombardment finally eliminate the British troops opening the supply lines to start the attack against Alexandria. The German paratroopers got honored their spring success by an autumn vacation in Greece.

The Japanese also going forward taking now the 2nd Chinese capital as well. Also Thailand is part of the Empire now.

  10. The British landed with 2 units in Narvik occupying the city, creating a huge debate in the OKW if the SeaLion should be their favorite pet, after having a great summer in Paris.

The main theater of war shifting to the south and the mighty Italian army took Tunisia and destroyed the fortification of El Alamein (with the little help of the Germans :) Lots of Allied general seeking glory in the desert, but their odds are getting lower :

    40juneaf.jpg

Meanwhile the Japanese forces got new rifles and after a short break pushing forward. Intelligence reported the Chinese do not believe in science so the speed can be maintained. Sian is taken as well as Indochina, but one special forces lost during the rush in the north:

  11. I think you'll find my rapier like wit , self deprecating humour and all round talent for amusing the hundled, hungry unkempt masses here on the SC forum made it superb but sure give the uber unstoppable Dragon the credit for posting a few screenshots ....

At least we can say there are 2 types of Armchair general around. One likes the legendary stories about the battles, and the other ones got exited to see the very insight of the Battle orders and strategic maps.

Do not worry I try to entertain both, but I have to admit my skills are better in the picture manipulating tools than in English....

    And back to the fight:

As expected the french gunners in Paris were not really dreaming to fight big mustache Germans and surrendered. Also the German paratroopers warmed up with the spring weather and glided to Oslo.

The french navy were not really able to fear the Italians and the bombardment of Malta started on schedule.

The Chinese try to regroup and giving up the fortress in the north.
