    These trench videos are brutal.  If the defender has lost the ability to fire or retreat, they get slaughtered.

    Steve

    Or if you focus too much in one direction. Apparantly a russian is sneaking into the trench, while ukrainian soldiers focus on what is in front of them.

  2. Hi,

    I would like to play a quick battle, April 1944. I select several "Panther turret bunkers". But when I load the map no panther turret bunkers are placed. Can someone help me out, what I'm doing wrong? Somehow I have the feeling that the units under the formation are missing. There is no plus icon to unfold the formation. Everything else has the plus icon.

    What's a little bit strange too, they only cost 50 points each. (Maybe because the actual units are missing?)

    Antitank gun turrets (PAK 40) are 188 points with normal values.

    Kind regards
    Markus

  3. Edit: Haiduk explained that this is an old video from 2016 and shows an ukrainian vehicle.

    Do you guys remember when the amphibious ability of vehicles was discussed (epically failed river crossing)?
    Someone explained how important maintenance is, to ensure this ability.

    Guess how this bmp ends, trying to cross a river ... :D

    Latvia also stopped letting russians in and Estonia today as well. Czech did it right away back then. It's a process which will only gain momentum as russians keep pissing everyone off all around the world by being what they truly are.

    Remember how half a year ago I wrote here that russians are all the same and need to get "cancelled" everywhere because all of them are responsible - and some people here were "naaah you are just being bad saying all russians are bad" - but as it turns out it's all about sitting back, relaxing and simply letting russians do what they do best - and they will eventually get noticed. And promptly squished.

    Serves them right.

    Did you read the exceptions?

    The decision does not concern Russian citizens with visas issued by other EU members. But this issue will be raised with the EU later this month, he said.
    It will also not affect Russian citizens whose homeland is Estonia or who are permanent residents of Estonia, Reinsalu said.
    Exceptions to the rule include:
    Russian embassy employees and their family members working in Estonia;
    Employees directly involved in the transportation of goods and passengers;
    Those who have the right to freedom of movement under EU law;
    People visiting close relatives;
    People entering for humanitarian reasons.

    I understand and support the idea, but I'm afraid that only if the whole of the European Union enforces this policy, it will have an effect.  German chancelor Scholz already explained that he thinks this is a bad idea. Because of poor normal russians ...

    The Chancellor has spoken out against a ban on tourist visas for Russians. "This is Putin's war, and that's why I have a hard time with this idea," Scholz told journalists in Berlin. Scholz referred to the "very far-reaching sanctions" against Russia.
    According to Scholz, it would weaken the effectiveness of the sanctions "if they were directed against everyone, including the innocent."

    Looks like they didn't destroy as many aircraft as we would have hoped to see.  It's tough to say, but I'm counting 8 probable destroyed, with 2 possibly repairable or at least usable for parts.

    Steve

    Well we don't know if / how many pilots and maintenance personal were killed. I guess this hurts a lot more than just the planes. How long does it take to train a fighter pilot? 1 year, 2 years?

    Where is that? Kherson, or Russia? This is really sad and sorry the driver is an inhuman piece of meat no matter what the unfortunate soldier was involved in.

    Yes, totally. I mean he delivered a completely understandable explanation. Ukrainian nazis eat children. So he had to go there and fight them.

    Children are dying since 2014. I saw a lot of photos. It's awful to realise that people see only things that media show to them. Lives have different values. If media show this particular death - people sorrow. Media don't say about 100 another deaths - people don't care. Child in Vinnitsya is a human being, child in Donetsk is like Palestinian child, acceptable "collateral damage".

    Wow ... you leave me speachless. You really expressed your sympathy for this dead child in such a nice way.

    It turns out that is is OK to pay for Russian gas in rubles after all - European Commission, France and Germany got it wrong at the first time. All is fine, nothing to see here. No English source yet, but the link below is Polish gov news agency, as credible as you get in Poland.

    Unless this is some kine of a deal to get Hungary to accept oil sanctions, this is absolutely outrageous.

  9. Two pictures from an attempted river crossing.

    Brief description of the photo: Rashists continue to try to cross the Seversky Donets. But once again, unsuccessfully. The tank was hit first. The crew was wounded, tried to swim back, but most likely drowned. Then a tank or infantry fighting vehicle was destroyed, which had just begun to drive onto the pontoon. He got hit, went off the pontoon and rolled over on his side. The crew drowned, the corpse of one of the crew members floats nearby. The BMK-MT tugboat was destroyed next. The rest of the equipment began to turn around and retreat from the crossing. Ukrainian artillery began to work on it. After some time, the Russians tried to drag the first wrecked tank, but lost the BREM-1. A shell lay nearby and one of the sections of the pontoon bridge, having received a hole under the weight of the BREM-1, went under water with it.

    Russia is said to have fended off a Ukrainian attempt to land on Snake Island

    The Russian military said it prevented a major landing by Ukrainian troops on Snake Island in the Black Sea. "Over the weekend," Ukrainian airborne units and marines landed on the island, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry said in Moscow.

    "The Ukrainian provocation was thwarted by the skilful actions of the Russian units on the island," said Igor Konashenkov. Accordingly, four Ukrainian fighter jets, three attack helicopters with paratroopers on board and 30 drones were destroyed in the fighting and three armored landing craft were sunk. 50 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, Ukraine has not yet confirmed the information.

    Previously, consistent reports from both sides suggested heavy fighting around the island 35 kilometers off the southwestern Ukrainian coast. It was taken by Russia at the beginning of the war.

    Has anyone read something about a ukrainian attempt to land on snake island? And these casualties numbers, 30 drones???

    Not confirmed by Russian sources jet ) Also I can't find any information about general with such name. There is only Denis Simonov, mayor general FSB. But this one Alexey or Alexandr, judging of his name Simonov A.D. on the uniform

    His name seems to be Simonov, Andrey.

    I find his name in context with electronic warfare.

    Simonov, Andrey, Denis Khripushin and Mikhail Chikin, “Perspektivy avtomatizirovannogo upravleniya v soyedineniyakh radioelektronnoy bor’by Vooruzhonnykh Sil Rossiyskoy Federatsii” [Prospects of automated command and control in the formations of electronic warfare of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

    So it becomes an almost purely attritional  contest. How long can the Russians lose a battlegroup a day plus?

    Don't you have to ask the question for both countries? Combat these days seems to be totally different than in the beginning, with these huge russian losses. Lots of artillery, stationary positions, probes. Ukraine is for sure suffering too.
