  1. I didn't find rail heads in the scripts, I had to go into the editor. Select Campaign options, then the advanced tag then check the Railheads box, then save and exit.

It is one of the few that is unchecked and I am not sure why. It would be nice if it was one of the options selectable inside the game but no big deal. Personally I would restirct Operate like unit update, if a unit is next to an enemy unit or will be next to one when it Operates I would not allow it, air units excluded of course.

  2. Franky-Boy that is the million dollar question, I know coding can be extremlly difficult and sometimes even more so after it has already been writen. I do not really expect these changes to happen, it is just a suggestion and something to think about.

Lars ok you have me there subtract one from each of my level numbers smile.gif I would have the system go level 0 1 2.

0 you have to wait a turn to unload.

1 you could unload the same turn but could not move.

2 you can unload the same turn and move in that turn if you have enough AP's.

Is that a little better smile.gif

  3. Abulbulian I think Rambo is ok, well maybe he has watched one too many movies but if you get past his extrem pro American slant he has an occasional good idea smile.gif

I don't expect the game to follow a historical path, if it did then it wouldn't be much fun to play, however I do expect a good WWII game to have a sound footing in ... WWII I guess silly of me smile.gif

  4. Right and that is why I am saying that if you are at level 1 tech you should have to wait one turn to off load troops, this makes it much more historical. When we first started discussing this idea it was kind of frowned apon due to having to add a new tech. Well now we have the new tech and I know it might be very complecated in the code to add this but I still think it would fix the problem for good and not just bandaid it like lowering movement rate does.

  5. Very interesting Xwormwood, I will read up on it, I wonder how many of those attempts made it very far, I know of the one in the bunker where the bomb went off but the blast was shunted by the table leg. Talk about fate, that one had the backing of the high command, in fact they were all set to take over the government because they didn't want one of Hitlers cronies to take over.

    EDIT ADDED:

Hey that site is in German, I lived there for 4 years but never did learn to speak the lingo I will do some research of my own smile.gif

  6. I think it does a much better job of spending its MP and updating its units, although not perfect it is better. With that said they have taken some stuff away like the starting HQ in France and they have limited total MPP on research for the Germans at 750. The problem I think is not really with the defense but the offense. When the German AI should be rampaging across Russia the player if they act right can defend the Western cities and slow the Germans down making it very hard for the Axies AI to win.

  7. It wasn't just Britain that he messed up. Dunkirk, the battle of Britain, "if a single bomb falls on Berlin you can call me Myer" resupplying the traped troops at Stalingrad. Heck I could write a book about his foul ups, they are classic and not just once but MANY. If it was one foul up I would say ok nobody is perfect but it was one after another and in VERY critical points of the war. Just goes to show you that just because you can do something great, he was a WWI ace, does not mean you are a good leader.

  8. Rambo I think you are a bit over the top in regards to the all powerfull and all uber American Military, what America had was industrial might. Heck look at our main battle tank, the Sherman, it was out classed by German and Russian tanks of the 41 era. It took 4 or 5 Sherman to take down one Panther and that is how we did it, by numbers NOT by being uber.

One thing I agree with you is that Goering was a total joke, I don't think that clown did one thing right the entire war, every thing he touched he screwed up. As for Rommel frankly I think he was a great general and I would rate him as high as Patton. He was not the best German general on defense for sure but on offense there was none better. In N Aferica he was out gunned, out maned, out tanked and out supplied in VERY large numbers and he still almost managed to win.

For the life of me I'll never understand why they did not assissinate this man as soon as he started his taking command of military tactics, but I'm forever gratefull at the idiots for not doing so.

    ...

They tired, if I remember right thre were at least 4 valid attempts on his life. Call it luck or fate or whatever but if they had killed him right before spring of 41 England just might of made peace and who knows what would of happened then.
  10. I tired your way last night and was shocked that I could take France so quickly. I passed on England and Norway went right for Vichy France then that made the Med easy. Also I pumped a lot of chits into Spain and got lucky there, they came over in early 40 making the Med even eaiser.

In early 41 I had a large German force take Syria and Iraq flipped, and Iran fell easy. At the same time I took Yugo and of course Russia readyness jumped a lot.

Where I was really lucky is I was setting up an invasion of Russia through Iraq and priming my forces for a drive in the North when the Russians decided they had enough and decleared war on me. I easlly dispatced their Northern attack with great losses to the Russian, the Romainians and Hungarians held in the south and my German troops took the two cities and a oil well in the Cacuses.

From there it was easy, even though my Cacucases force were unable to advance due to supply problems, I even brought along an HQ I am still having problems with the supply rules.

What amazes me is how many units the Russians keep putting into the fight even when they are down to just a couple of cities. You can't let up at all thinking you have it won as they can quickly over whelm you, plus supply becomes a HUGE problem in NE Russia.

Anyway I didn't mean to get long winded but thanks for posting your views, it gave me something new to try, I never thought I could take France so quickly, I did notice that if you get real unlucky and get mud early it can mess with you taking France early in a big way.

In an interesting move that shows diplomatic acumen, Blashy invaded Syria, which piqued the interest of Goddamn Hussain’s rebels, moving Iraq into the Axis readiness column. Then, when the Iraq coup happened, Iraq fully joined the Axis, so the Axis is getting those mpps. Blashy can probably explain this better, but IMO it was an interesting, bloodless…and chitless way to activate Iraq that I have made note of. Of course US and Russian readiness went up, but getting Iraq in so cheaply is something to consider.

    ...

Jolly I have taken Syria in 6 or seven games I have played and Iraq does not always flip, a couple of times they 'became alarmed' so there must be a random factor or something else I was doing effected it but it is not %100.
  12. LOL yea Rambo and ALL GI's are Rambos and the US are UBER military men that roll over anyone that gets in their way smile.gif I think you have watched one too many movies. By the way this is coming from a proud American Vet. I have been part of the U.S. military so I have seen first hand just how UBER they are LOL. Just ask any GI that went ashore after a major bombardment how effective they thought the bombardment was.

  13. But that catch up bonus is a double whammy for the Germans since their total MPP's allowed in research has been lowered. I still think that this patch went to far the other way and the Germans now have to have luck to win. Everything has to go perfect for them where as the Allies you have some wiggle room plus you can hope that all does not go perfect for the Germans.

By the way lets try and stay away from the politics for a few days guys, it got a little too intense for a while. I am am here for the game smile.gif

  14. I would not mind seeing shore bombardment changed so that it reduces readyness and entrinchment instead of doing damage as long as you cahnge it so the navy unit does not take damage in return. Other wise just leave it as it is.

I think the Navy needs a lot of work from subs to carriers to surface fleets but at this point a major rework should be pushed off to SC 3 if there is going to be another.
