  1. You're welcome my friend.

I will be more than happy to test an eventual new version.

    SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

As I said before, I simply bombed the hell out of those hills and buildings. I am certain that without artillery those positions will be a tough nut to crack for the infantry. Heavy loses are to be expected.

I'll try to find time to give it another go sometime next week.

Real life starts tomorrow for me, no more holidays. :(

    Good map, please keep'em coming.

  2. SPOILER ACHTUNG!!!!!!!!

    SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!

    AARIraqiAttack.jpg

As you see I managed to win a Total Victory with only 5 soldiers WIA playing Real Time, Veteran. I consider myself an average player.

My opening move was to send the FO to a good position, from there he smashed all the crests and enemy positions in sight, and that's all.

Five minutes before the end I sent two tanks to the stronghold, and levelled the remaining buildings cutting down till the last enemy soldier. Only a couple of RPG where shot to my armour. The enemy surrendered.

Didn't need the helicopters, and didn't use the reinforcements at all. Well actually I hardly used the infantry but for scouting from positions pretty close to the set-up area.

    IMHO you have several options:

I would suggest a reduction of the arty assets available. Who can resist the temptation?. ;)

Add some enemies on reverse slope defences, specially behind the major elevations.

Add some forces to cover the defender's left flank. I found a huge open gate over there and my tanks used it to get to the objectives virtually unopposed.

Hope you find my opinion constructive.

Good map though. I enjoyed the mission.

Thanks for your work SoColdInWinter and keep on making scenarios for this great community.

EDIT: As suggested I'll it give another try not using the arty at all next time. And we'll see the difference.

Thank you Trooper5 but your workaround doesn't work for me.

My problem is: If I set up manualy the Anti-Aliasing and Ansiotropic values in ATI control panel I get major glitches and all kind of annoying effects in CMSF. So I must activate "use application settings" in the graphics card menu which kills the glitches but then, no matter what I choose in-game settings, Anti-Aliasing doesn´t work at all.

Running other programs (FB, SH-IV) I do not experience AA malfunctions at all.

Further advice would be welcome guys.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hehehehehe, collateral damage you say?? My aircrafts changed the whole orography of the map. Did I see a cow getting slaughtered by a LGBU??? Not sure about that. :D

    Different mission, good idea.

    SPOILER ACHTUNG!!!

As already mentioned, I also learned to order point target instead of area target. Guess that helped to keep all my guys alive till they had to leave. I lost a fully loaded Humvie in the process.

Got a major victory, lost four men.

I would suggest a relief force could come to pick the FOs ten minutes or so before the expire time instead of having those Humvies parked there from the very begining. Just an idea.

    Keep'em coming Gdog. ;)

    C'Rogers,

Dunno, I just report them as I see them. I do know that abstraction is back, in a larger degree. Scenario designers in the meanwhile should avoid placing walls near buildings. It screws up the pathfinding enormously too.

I have a save file, 1.03, of an infantry move plot some 20m into a building door right in front of them. They go every way but the easy way every time - all around, including up the middle of the roads. Yup a replicable bug.

And a wall just happened to be nearby that plot. I am very suspicous of these walls in general. I think they should just be left out of scenarios.

I completely agree with you. Those walls next or attached to buildings seem to be the cause of many LOS and movement problems for my troops.
