Hi,
I'm thinking of buying TOW2, but I wanted to get some feedback from the group on some questions I have:
1- I'm not really interested in the Italian campaign, but I understand that those that have the Centuro expansion can't connect via multiplayer with those that don't. Shoud I purchase the expansion anyway?
2- How's the replayability with TOW2? The quik mission builder doesn't give you any randomness as far as where te enemy comes from, etc. Does setting up a skirmish using LAN multiplayer offer randomness and better replayability?
3- I have TOW and I'm wondering how much of an improvement the group feels TOW2 is (in general) over TOW?

I've managed to install the TOW mission pack 1 but the mission editor doesn't work.
Any fixes?

No....mission editor doesn't work under Vista.

You don't. These utilities for TOW1 don't work for Vista 32/64.

Battle Generator in Africa 1943 is mostly the same, with neccessary changes.
Does it work with Vista?

I bought this game about 2 weeks ago. Did the server ever work? :confused:
Yep, it has worked, and the server appears to be up now, although I don't see any online games being played at the moment. A couple of weeks ago I saw a "SEARCH SERVERS SYSTEM IS UNAVAILABLE" message, but that no longer appears.

Was looking to play online myself, but it looks like the server is still down.

Each round type has different ballistics qualities, so you have to use the appropriate range scale for the type of round you are shooting.

Sorry....link didn't work. Here are the steps for manually aiming:
Steps to use manual targeting (assuming gunner position):
1) Press Ctrl + W
2) Use the range finder in the sight to calculate the range.
3) Put the targeting diamond on the target.
4) Adjust the range using the "U" and "I" keys. Use the proper scale (AP, HE, etc.) for the round that's loaded. Once you set the scale to the right distance, do not move the diamond back on the target (I did this at first.....duh!
5) FIRE!!!
6) Adjust the gun elevation (using "U" or "I") if the range is off, and fire again....

1- Quick mission generator
2- Display terrain cover/concealment type for a unit. This would help to identify whether a unit is actually behind cover (tree, rock, etc.) or not.
3- Add more autonomy to the AI. Allow them to "think" more and adjust to situations on their own.

"...and keep tanks from driving off when they're supposed to be defending."
You need to also click on the "Hold" button to keep them from wandering. If you just click on "defend", they will sometimes move to find a better postion.

Actually, the smallest wheeled armored vehicle in the game can crush trees. Check out this video I made from the latest version of TOW:

Jmayer, I will definitely be trying some online play once the patch is out. I know I've seem other posts with a strong interest in multiplayer TOW. A lobby system would be very nice
