  1. It comes from quick sources whom have no idea who battlefront is... but the general gist of the rumor is... CM:TS

    Combat Mission:Taiping Slaughter

Raise your paddy knives and your cannons... guard the dragon forts....

the Manchu's have laid metal, have roosted and slammed their iron fist. The Taipings are marching....(the kingdom of piece has come to relieve the opium laden swine)

the British and French module soon to follow.....

see flashy swing into desperate action...

  2. There seems to be two documented types of CM player. First there's the 'immersion' player who does not want to see or know anything that the sgt on the ground wouldn't know. His ideal is to be totally immersed in the flow of events. He wants to smell the cordite fumes. The other type is the 'gamer'. His mission is to rule the game. To know all, see all, to be undisputed master of all aspects of the gaming experience. Imagine that guy (John Leguizamo?) in the Matrix movie who sat at his console watching the endless cascade of numbers and symbols.

Your idea is definitely geared toward the second type of player. :D;)

The Matrix with John Leguizamo would have been a COMPLETELY different movie lol.

it was Tank played by Marcus Chong i believe.

kinda like Nick Nolte as Han Solo i'd think... well maybe not that crazy...

  3. Well, it just really comes down to whether the scenarios are well balanced and aesthetically made don't you think? You can have a shottily made map with great historical legitimacy and it will be an OK battle, and then you can have a GREAT map with 10 Elite Tigers and SS against ill nourished and ill equipped paratroopers in the incorrect year. No fun. And then you get a great map with a great historical balance... and then (very important) a bit of fiction. (enough to tweak your mouse hand and shake your coffee onto your keyboard..after all it is a game) Battlefront can offer the palette and people will create. This community will take what you give them and make great scenarios and interesting conversation that i could never explain to my wife. That is what keeps me on these boards daily.

  4. Hey guys. Thanks for trying the Download. I am presently uploading a new ZIP. I had packed the other zip in MacOsX so that was probably the issue. I dl'd it and it opened fine (in OSX) so it definitely wasn't a corruption problem. I rebooted to Windows and repacked the file. Let me know if it works. Should be done uploading in Ten. The repository gave me an "Unspecified file" message after i uploaded THAT so i guess it didn't work. i'll do that again and CMMODS.com, but certainly http://lonkaiser.com has a much quicker download speed so i'll keep it up there for a while. once again the link is:

hope it's a good weekend for all. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

  5. Hello all,

I just spent the last week making some alternative music for Shock Force and i had a Ton of Fun doing so and added three more pieces to my production music repertoire in the process. ;)

The first two pieces (opening and deployment) are in the vein of the original music but tend to be more "Tune" oriented and quite more Syrian in nature! (for those of you who play mostly Red or Red on Red)

The "end of game" music is somber, cinematic and classical; a departure from the opening musics and somewhat looking forward to a WWII CM, Normandy Revisited. It is also soothing to the senses. :D

I have uploaded them to the repository but for now they are also available here:

Unpack and place these files in your Z folder and fire up!! If you find you like one more than the other or perhaps want just the classical piece of music for the whole game: be my guest and make two duplicate copies of "music end of battle.wav" and change the titles to: "music intro.wav" and "music splash.wav"

    Best,

    Lon Kaiser

  6. Because: after i got my new MacBook Pro and wrangled up XP, i finally bit the bullet and bought the Windows version and then REPEATEDLY have bit many bullets.. over and over and over and over. Amazing game. Nothing but Patience and Uber Control and a bit of luck will save your ass in this game. I would love to be able to switch my copy to MACOSX when the time comes.

i don't want to wait for that Marines module..

I held off as long as i could!!!!

Thanks Guys but i understand if it's not feasible.

  7. I just got a New Intel Based MacBook Pro... I have acquired XP and have it installed. Should i Jump for the Windows version of CMSF or is the MacOsX version right around the corner? I know it was planned to be ported after the Marines are released. Any News...? How about if I buy the Windows version now, could you just send along a Mac version free of Charge when it comes out...? Does that sound like a sweet deal?

    ;):D

  8. Battlefront is breaking new ground. They have always done so and are with this game pushing software and simulation to the extreme, and with a low budget and a limited workforce to boot. unfortunately since we've left the patronage system of the 1700's, one can't wait forever to release the perfect "treatise" on ones ideas. Sometime you have to barrel your way through and support yourself at the same time. It seems, at times, people on this forum forget what is trying to be done, it's the "backseat driver" syndrome... made even worse by people you can't even drive.

They just want to get to the end of the roadtrip without a hitch and the roadtrip is off-road safari from NYC to LA.
