  1. *****I have a save of this though not sure it'll repeat the behavior.

I was on George Ms "Going to Town" and i had very strange Javelin Behavior. It took 5 Javelins to kill one BMP. The First went off map. The second missed (the BMP was nowhere near the edge of the map) I swore and sent the javelin team to acquire 2 more Javelins. The next one didn't kill, in FACT the first of the Pair hit and BOUNCED off upwards into the stratosphere (at this point i saved game.) Targeted one more and it missed. I acquired ONE more went back to my small hilltop and finally killed the BMP.

Oiy. I've played this game so many times and have never seen anything near this. The occasional dud shot, ok but...

  2. I am playing this same campaign and basically we are at the same point EXACTLY- though I am playing realtime. I started playing it because in skimming your DAR it looked like a good campaign (i'd played the second mission as an independent download). I didn't want to spoil my experience so I really hadn't delved into your Report untill after i'd finished said mission. We are at the exact same point ,though I've actually returned to a save gave from "Minoun" because i had lost too many men taking that damn radar station and had made another stupid error trusting the pathing of a transport vehicle to the AI (it rolled right into Minoun --- Emergency mortar strike now!!!) and lost two Javelin teams and a Assault Team.. damn. (i still won with a VERY early surrender and total victory).. but last mission as i found out.. here comes the armor!

Anyway very fun to read this DAR when I've just done the Action. very cool to see contrasting approaches. Interestingly enough the 2nd time I tried the Radar station my mortars did NOTHING to those guys!!! I had LOS and was able to do a linear drop on the three rooftops. The AI has gotten much better. at first round they must have descended into the structure.

I have repeatedly loose too many men to that damn tower!

    Awesome.

  3. I just beat that second Mission!

    41 OK

    0 Killed

    0 Wounded

I didn't need to resupply ammo either. I am actually really surprised. Those are the best stats i've ever gotten in CMSF.

3rd mission i have to rethink. I am so not used to defending in this game...erg.

I killed everything but took a few too many casualties.

I think i need to shoot and scoot with my troops a bit more and i was too spread out probably. AND YES.. i probably set my cover arcs to far out so my troops got spotted before CAS could come in.

  4. I got the first mission won, but lordy... the second one is going to require a few tries. Because basically you can't afford to lose anyone and it is a MOUT operation with limited time and then on top of it there is the ammo problem! Any hints? I'm fine up to a point, but the Mosque objective is in very tight quarters with lots of angled buildings that block clear lanes of supporting fire. OUCH. I might have to go back and play the first again and conserve more ammo. Well thought out and realistic campaign. I feel the tightness of the situation more than a lot of campaigns. It is very intimate.

Alright I am booting into windows now to give it another go....

  5. Dietrich,

Thanks man! i really appreciate it. Great to hear some feedback. That's certainly the pace I had in mind. i see it has had quite a few downloads, but of course you never know who is using it. I was also hoping to get some visibility from BFC for future games. ;) Also just felt that since there are quite a lot of people who play red they might want something more syrian.

  6. If you want different music for a tad, you can check out my music mod:

    http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=92

It's more Syrian in nature and for the deployment screen even heavier middle eastern thrash.

The End Game music is very WWII (a foreshadowment), mellow, classical... a requiem if you may...

(you can't change the very first opening splash screen)

if you find you like one more than the other just dupe the one you like and rename the file to the one you don't and plop them in the Z folder. But hey hopefully you'll like them all! :).

  7. "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" killed me.. I concur with everything you just mentioned average. Beautiful map and last night i couldn't sleep because I kept replaying the battle in my mind! ugh...

It obviously takes a lot of coordination with British Forces and Fire Support to get much done especially if you have no real armor and are understrength... It didn't help that when i received Harrior support it seemed to have a grossly spent payload to assist me with.. lol.

That map has severe and staunch resistance (which is mentioned in the breifing). I want to try it again.. and probably will get brewed up again and again.

i extended myself too much in initial attacks and didn't take enough time to identify the most dangerous threats and take them out with Air support. It seems like the 3 hour time limit might help with that. I felt like i had to rush. Regardless though the map is beautiful and it REALLY entrenches you into the game!

  8. Absolutely!

As in real life, if you intrude into a weapons free zone and you can't be clearly identified as friendly forces, you can expect a friendly fire incident in CMSF.

In CMSF, just sitting immediately outside the CAS zone is no guarantee of not being hit as well, as I found out the hard way.

As in real life, keep your forces at a distance from CAS doing their grim business.

i second that and it was simply brutal when that happened!

  9. i tried with using rooftops as the bridge and then you can have engineers blast the building right? The trouble i had with that is in the book there is armor... and armor should be able to cross the bridge if it hasn't been blown. Though I suppose you can say that i am being a tad anal about that, lol, because it is "either, or" and i can't have both and if i abstract the demolition then armor will still be able to cross. so hell...... Still balancing the scenario and i'm sure it will be up soon and needs to be tested. so maybe i'll go back and try the rooftop bridge approach again. good jerry rig btw... :) i read about that awhile ago.

  10. Well I've been making a "For Whom the Bell Tolls" scenario and it's kinda hard to Sim without actually being able to blow up a bridge... I have to abstract it.

which then got me to wishing..... hence the forum post. Engineers working under heavy fire... under the clock. KABOOM. drool. :)
